Hi, I’m 36 and I’ve been trying to have my second child for nearly a year now. I had my first at 21.

I got pregnant on my 5th cycle but miscarried at 8 weeks. It’s now been 6 months since my miscarriage and no sign.

Is there a timeframe where you think I need to see a doctor and check if anything is wrong? Or is this normal for a lot of people my age?

I get a positive ovulation test every month, I’m doing everything right…

Im losing hope 😣

They say over 35 you should see a dr after 6 months of trying. However as you have a child already they'll probably do a progesterone test to check you're ovulating and if you are that's where any help ends (that was my experience anyway - did fertility testing and currently doing IVF all self-funded)

From 35 it is after 6 months of trying. They will ask for bloods to be taken on day 21 of your cycle and go from there.

I'm so sorry for your loss. If over 35 and TTC 6mths or longer, the NHS guidance is to see your GP! You qualify, so I'd be making an appointment ASAP! You've been trying longer, but had the MC, but its still be 6mths since then.

I am always very honest and was when I went to the GP after we'd been TTC for months. I was apparently 1 week too early for testing. I was told to go home and relax! I endured 12yrs TTC, lost 3, rounds of IVF and no living children. I'm not saying lie to the GP, but make it clear that its been a FULL 6mths since your loss that you have been actively TTC. Wishing you all the best op x

Thank you! I didn’t want to contact them to say, it’s your age just keep trying. I think I need to investigate it more. Just a feeling!

Thank you for replying and your advice. I will call Monday and get booked in. I’m so sorry for all you’ve been through. Joining this group has made me realise there’s so many women in the same position or similar but it’s never spoken about! Xx

I am 34 and in a similar position ttc my second after a year. I went to GP recently who only did progesterone and thyroid blood tests both of which came back normal and then I was pretty much sent on my way. There was no mention of any tests for my partner. I would def say book a gp apps and take it from there x
