Hi

I found out I was pregnant a few days ago (very early, period was due tomorrow). I was going to delay TTC a bit - GP said I had subclinical hypothyroidism back in April and was prescribed 50mcg levothyroxine to get TSH down to between 1-2, my levels were 3.5 a few months later and GP suggested increasing dose to 50mcg and 75mcg alternate days. However blood test end of October showed my TSH is too low to be detected!!

Im now worried that I’ll miscarry since level is so low. I’m back to taking 50mcg again but anyone got any idea how long it takes to increase it up a bit?

I’m trying to get a GP appointment to discuss next week but any advice in the meantime would be really helpful! Thank you

If your TSH is too low, then your hypothyroidism is overtreated (too much thyroxine). However thyroxine requirements increase in pregnancy and my understanding is that you are better to be slightly overtreated than undertreated. Speaking to your GP next week is the best course of action. Try not to worry and good luck for your pregnancy.

Thanks for your reply, hopefully blood test next week will be ok (and pregnancy progresses ok!)
