Back to back chemical pregnancies

Ladies - I’ve had 3 back to back chemical pregnancies. All 3 times, my HCG went up, and then back down. And I had my period at the same time as usual- so chemical pregnancy happened in the first 10-12 days post ovulation. Anyone else who has gone through this and can share any stories of how they eventually conceived? I’ve not gone through any IVFs

Because the advice and lots of peoples experience is not to test until you miss your period it's likely that this happens to lots more people than we realise.

Emotionally you could try to hold off the testing until after a missed period (I find this really hard!) or contact Tommy's for advice?

As per previous poster. A conception only forms a pregnancy if your body thinks it's viable. It's now thought, due to modern pregnancy tests, half of conceptions aren't viable - this is completely normal and doesn't mean you can't conceive. Lay off the tests until you are 2-3 days late for your period.

Hey sweetheart - good news is that a chemical pregnancy is indicative of a successful pregnancy by over 90% - and chemical pregnancies are very, very normal (as the above said, our bodies regularly do abortions).

3 in a row could be bad luck - but it could also be a result of you or your partner having alcohol or caffeine 3 months prior.

And yes, the idea that a mans coffee habit 3 months before doing the deed affects this was a bit of a shock to me (I thought they made sperm on demand) but live to learn

Sorry this is happening to you OP

I personally never test until after I've missed a period for the exact reason that I don't want to pick up a chemical. I'd personally rather not know but I accept we are all different.

Good luck in your TTC journey

I've had 3 chemicals in 5 months. I have a living son who is just about to turn 7. No problems with him, so this has been unexpected. Waiting on blood tests coming back from hospital and a referral to recurrent miscarriage clinic, but all blood results so far have been normal. So sad wondering if it will ever work.

Hi! I’ve also had 3 back to back losses, a MMC then two CPs on consecutive cycles. Since then nothing but I’m trying to keep away from testing a bit more now. Even though I still feel equally down every time AF arrives. It’s so difficult 😞 No success story here yet but I hope so soon!

I am sorry you have had these experiences, I agree with others that it makes sense to wait until your period is late. However, I would not wait for longer than a day or two because back to back chemicals could indicate an implantation problem or possibly an immune issue. If this occurs a couple more times I would make a GP appointment. Chemicals are indeed common though x
