Success with letrozole?

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help or give me
some positives, please. My second round of letrozole has just failed. Did anyone have success on round 3 or after? Any success stories welcome! Thanks in advance.

Hi
Unfortunately no success stories on my end yet. Just wanted to say you are not alone.

CardiVee · 16/10/2024 16:39

Hi, thank you. That means a lot. It is such a lonely journey. What cycle are you on? I hope we can both have success soon!

It is a lonely journey. And I feel like I have so many questions that I'm just not getting good answers on.

First round with the fertility specialist, but technically my third. My gynea prescribed 2 cycles in Apr and May this year but then stopped it because she wasn't sure whether it would actually help.

Now a few months down the line we are repeating everything with the specialist.

i had 2 unsuccessful monitored cycles with a hcg trigger. 2.5mg dose and 2 follicles each time but no luck. Had a surgery to remove a polyp and now trying a cycle without a trigger as advised that may work better for me still on 2.5mg dose and I just have to do ovulation tests from CD8

It seems as if fertility is a bit of mystery even to the professionals. So much of it is “unexplained” and that is difficult. I hope that you can get some real answers soon and I wish you success on your journey. I’m just glad we have places like this where we can see we are not alone

On my last scan, the nurse saw a polyp. This seems to have only developed since being on letrozole. Was yours the same? Yes, I spoke to someone on another forum who seemed to do better without the trigger shot. You seem to be responding well to the medication if you’re getting two follicles on 2.5mg. I hope you are successful 🙏

@CardiVee yes it really is a mystery. I'm hope this next cycle will be the lucky one for you! It's interesting about the polyp. Do you know whether they plan to remove it?

@WillitWorknow I hope it will be successful for you now! It is great that you are responding to the 2.5 mg already. Do you know based on what they decide whether or not to give the trigger shot? My doctor didn't even mention trigger shots to me, so I'm curious to understand when it's being used.

@JJB92 so she said she’s going to monitor it as the centre of the womb was still clear. I have a consultation with my doctor today, which is interesting. They said I could do 3 rounds and review, but now they want to review after 2. I’m a bit worried what the doctor will say as I don’t have enough letrozole for cycle 3 and they will need to prescribe more. I thought I could just collect my next prescription.

Yes I’d not had it previously as far as I’m aware . Hopefully now it’s removed it might help. When I had the trigger it seemed to be needed so early in my cycle cd 10 and cd 11 so I was ovulating early and usually I have quite long cycles 32-35 days but Letrozole with trigger made my cycle 25 and 26 days! My dr thinks without a trigger may keep me more in line with my natural cycle and could potentially work better ?

How was the surgery to have it removed? I’m just wondering if I might have to have it done as well due to my polyp. I completely understand what you’re saying about the trigger as it was the same
for me. I wondered whether the egg was actually ready or not. I asked the nurse and she said the few extra days didn’t matter or the opposite could happen and the follicle doesn’t release at all. The trigger guarantees ovulation. I hope in line with your natural cycle does the trick for you and you get your positive soon. Keep us updated 😊

It was really quick and easy I had it done via hysteroscopy under deep sedation and I did bleed for 3 weeks after on and off but it wasn’t painful or anything
