We’ve been trying for four months now and I’m starting to get disheartened and it’s bring me down. How long is it normal to conceive?

Also 4 months for me, and counting. I think it’s still early, although I know it doesn’t feel that way.

Up to a year is considered normal before speaking to a GP about some tests. Around 90% of people will conceive within a year. 75% within 6 months.

Hey @AbigailB 4 months is really not long (although I know it feels forever). A year is totally normal and expected - the consultant told me that each month (even if nothing is wrong with either partner) there is only around an 18% chance of conceiving, so don’t be disheartened!

I actually think the first 6 months or so of ttc are horrible because you have an expectation and a hope that it might happen quickly so each month is really all consuming and tough when AF arrives.

from someone who is on month 15 with no luck yet, my advice would be to try and keep busy as possible during the tww, to not test until you miss your period and to have some nice things planned around the time of your period to cheer you up if it does arrive.

you got this!
