Progesterone prescription online

Can anyone advise on an online doctor that can prescribe progesterone for low progesterone symptoms and short luteal phase? Waiting times for my GP are over 3 weeks and I am not sure they will be able to help.

Have you had any tests? You’ll need to know current levels so the doctor knows what and how much to prescribe. If you make an appointment with a local fertility clinic they will be able to do the tests and then prescribe accordingly. It will be more expensive, but you won’t have to wait as long.

Alternatively 3 weeks isn’t that long for the doctor’s appointment and they will start the tests off and refer you to your local infertility team at the hospital who will do a range of tests on you and your husband and provide tailored care and support for free - you will just need to pay for the prescriptions. The referrals and tests take a bit longer in the NHS, so if you’ve been trying for a while now and are in your mid 30s-40s, you might want to go private for speed.

If you are pregnant you can push for it quicker. My cousin got pregnant, started spotting early on and then pestered GP to give her them, they resisted even then but eventually gave it, and then her spotting stopped and now she is about 6 months. But other than that situation, they'll want to do tests and everything first. Even a private clinic, which my partner and I are attending.

Have you done any at home tests to confirm low progesterone? The Proov ones are really good and come with great customer support. There's also some places where you can order blood tests, superdrug definitely do it and isn't too expensive if you want some numbers to be able to take to the gp.

Depending on how short your luteal phase is, it also might not be a barrier to conception. I've been having 8-10 day luteal phases since I've been tracking ovulation and had a bfp this month, there's loads of others on here with similar success stories.

Try Nova fertility. I got an online consultation with the consultant Dr Mohiyideen within a few days and took about a week after that to get prescription delivered.

" low progesterone symptoms and short luteal phase"

This isn't a thing - what symptoms do you have and who has told you that you need progesterone for them?

Sara1003 · 13/10/2024 17:32

Thanks for the Nova suggestion. Symptoms are ovulation is occurring later and later in cycle and short distance between that and period.

with those symptoms it’s definitely a good idea to go to a fertility clinic. Progesterone supplements are varied and can be to change cycles, to aid wall thickness, help with recurrent miscarriages (but the evidence of this is varied and that’s why GPs don’t unilaterally approve as there are too many variables). You really need to get things checked out as you could risk messing up your cycles and making things worse.

How are you measuring ovulation?
Is the overall time between one period and the other changing?
Luteal phase is usually more or less fixed and it's follicular phase that changes.

Testing using LH test strips, last month peak was day 16 and cycle lasted 27 days. Have been taking b6 and this does seem to have helped a bit with PMt symptoms.

I would just wonder how accurate they are and what clinical significance this has. I'm not sure that a progestogen to treat it has any backing in evidence.

Thanks for your comments, I have booked an appointment so fingers crossed!

To add to the above, Dr Morton's are also prepared to prescribe progesterone for short luteal phase.

I'm sure they are, for a fee.
Doesn't make it good medicine.

@premierleague tbh I am wondering if quite a few of these websites are a bit dodgy. They don't seem to have proper phone numbers or booking systems.
