Unexplained infertility but ovulate each month - how will letrozole help ??

Been ttc 2.5 yrs

All tests fine. Dr wants to try me on Letrozole but I ovulate already? How will this help? I thought it’s just for those who don’t ovulate ? He said that’s not always the case that it is worth trying?

Will I end up with twins or does it just increase my chance in general but not necessarily the chance of multiples?

He said I just need 1 scan to check dosage works.

I was in same position. Did 6 rounds of letrozole, only because we weren’t emotionally ready for ivf. The only benefit was knowing exactly when I was going to ovulate, and some months we added a trigger shot to be even more exact, but I was already tracking ovulation successfully and was pretty sure my problem was with either fertilisation or implantation, not ovulation. Some months I had two dominant follicles and may have released two eggs, so was warned about twins risk. If I’d had three, they’d have told me to abort the cycle to avoid triplets.

long story short - i didnt get pregnant and we moved on to ivf! I don’t regret trying it but if I could go back I’d just do 3-4 months instead of 6, as if it was going to help I think it would have happened earlier on.

Hey

Not in the same position as I have a DC but am TTC number 2. I'm into month 14 but at month 10 I was prescribed clomid which is also used to stimulate ovulation. I have had a lot of tests & scans and everything is normal. I have confirmed ovulation by 1) progesterone test and 2) scans.

I haven't taken the clomid as I've done my own research and I'm worried that the risks will outweigh any benefits.

Good luck in your decision x
