Hi all,

Could anyone recommend some fertility clinics in Birmingham that they've used?

Looking to chat about my PCOS and struggle to conceive, hoping to start off by trying Metformin/Clomid/Letrozol if appropriate.

On NHS waiting list for fertility referral but wait is quite a long time!

Hey, I’m currently with Create Fertility doing ovulation induction at their Birmingham Solihull clinic. This is with letrozole and a trigger shot. They’ve been really lovely so far 😃

greentree16 · 02/10/2024 19:47

@CardiVee thanks for coming back to me, do you mind me asking how long it's been since your initial consultation and how much it roughly has cost so far?

I have no idea what to expect!

Of course not. Happy to help. My initial consultation was late May. There’s quite a bit of paperwork to fill in etc. My husband had to have a semen analysis as well and the waiting list for that was about 3 weeks. I started my first cycle in August. I’m on my second cycle now. It costs about £450-£500. Monitoring scans are £200 each, letrozole is £20, trigger shot £50. However, we’ve also paid for baseline scan and semen analysis which was about £400 in total. There are quite a few letrozole threads on here with women having success. I’m hoping it works within 6 cycles although they will review after 3 x

If you have PCOS your GP should be able to prescribe metformin for you, mine did while I waited for referral.

Hi,
hope everyone is well.
sorry to join late. A bit of background:
i am a 27 year old female soon to be 28, i have a genetic gene which is 50/50 in passing onto a child. Earlier this year I unfortunately had a miscarriage at 15 weeks, it was a natural pregnancy and baby had the gene.
I was referred to BWC fertility clinic for IVF PGD, had initial consultation in June. Then another one at start of October just to tell me my funding has been approved and they’re going to commence the build up for testing fo the gene (PTEN).
I have had any scans or blood tests for myself or husband.
i just want to know the timeframe of when scans will be send and when treatment will commence. At the moment I am torn between waiting or doing IVF PGD abroad. I just feel stuck in a phase and mourning my lost baby.
I would appreciate if anyone can share the timeline with BWC .

I never ended up needing IVF. But I do have multiple problems that should make it impossible to get pregnant I've had lots of different gyny surgeries. In March 24 I had surgery wit Dr Jeve at the Priory (his fertility clinic is p4). Two months after the surgery I fell pregnant naturally. Every single consultant I see and it's been a lot is gobsmacked I'm pregnant. So I would 100% recommend him.

greentree16 · 19/10/2024 16:28

Hi @ZStarxx,

I can't help re timelines I'm afraid but I had an initial consultation and I'm starting ovulation induction with Dr Jeve at p4 fertility. I was very impressed with his manner and feel very well supported.

Good luck x

Hi @greentree16

i am so happy for you that your treatment has officially started. How are you keeping now? Hopefully you will be blessed with a bundle of joy very soon!

I am still waiting and there is very poor communication from BWC team and conflicting information provided every time I call for an update. Remaining hopeful 🤞🤞 feel like they are giving me more stress but let’s see 🤲🏻

xxx

greentree16 · 10/01/2025 20:43

@ZStarxx Hey! Ahh I'm really sorry to hear it's going so slowly ☹️ Do you know how much longer you might be looking at?

I ended up having ovulation induction in Nov for the first time which was successful so currently 9 weeks pregnant with little bub 🥰

I didn't ever hear back re my NHS referral and it would have been about 7 months back now! X

@greentree16. Oh my God🥳. I am over the moon for you. Hopefully it will be an easy pregnancy for you 🙌🤲🏻

Nobody is replying or speaking with me directly, they tried to deter me with fake information. I am extremely worried and disgusted by it because I am a nurse by profession but what about all ladies with no healthcare background. I hope it won’t be much longer. 🤞

greentree16 · 10/01/2025 21:32

@ZStarxx thank you!!

Ah that is so frustrating. I don't know why they can't be honest from the start, the waiting times they give are so clearly wrong and it gives people hope things will happen much more quickly than possible ☹️

Wishing you all the best and really hope you get seen soon xx

@greentree16

thank you 😊xx

getting pregnant and planning a pregnancy is a rollercoaster of a ride as it is. All those false hopes I have been building is crushing them body. I literally had a fainting episode from stressing too much about and hit my head on the wall. I already had a brain surgery.

the secretary to the professor at BWC called back today and she was utterly clueless. Not being able to get my husband results as she is misspelling his name. And then to get offered an appointment on 6/3/25 for just a review. My husband is planning to go abroad and see his parents as they are not well. I have just been crying non stop. I am worrying my husband and they just seem to be messing with my mind.

Sorry to jump on a thread that’s been quiet for a few months!

Congratulations @greentree16, how are you getting on?

@ZStarxx, have you had any updates with BWC?

I’m on the waitlist for gynaecology with BWC for the initial appointment and haven’t heard anything for 4 months. We went to our GP in January as we’d been TTC for a year and all I’ve had is one round of blood tests. My DH has his analysis at the end of May which has already been pushed back by 6 weeks. I know it’s slow and there’s a long wait time but I am starting to feel pretty impatient now watching the months go by. I did phone the GP to make sure they’d sent my referral and they had, it’s saying 19 week wait until treatment but from what’s been said on this thread I’m going to assume it will be longer than that. I’m thinking to just go to a fertility clinic and pay our way through it. Birmingham seem to be especially slow, I’ve been seeing people on other threads going to their GP after a year and it seems that not long after they’re being offered all the treatments and on their way to IVF!

ZStarxx · 18/04/2025 18:58

@Tater05

All I can tell you is BWC is one of the slowest in responding. I was referred March 24, 1st zoom appointment June 2024. And I still haven’t started treatment. I am still waiting to be consented. Sometimes I regret waiting soo long, I just thought as I have such a rare genetic condition that BWC have a bit more experience and the regional genetic centre for West Midlands is also based there. So I thought it would mean better test development. And from very first day we told them, we are happy to pay as long as you speed things up. I am going to keep nagging them and wait till June. As it’s has become very stressful, long winded process of nothing being done. Many things are mismanaged and could be done better. . Otherwise I will go an start fresh with another clinic and pay for the development test and paperwork to be transferred.

Tater05 · 19/04/2025 10:24

Hi @ZStarxx thanks for responding. I'm sorry it's been such a stressful experience for you. I also would have thought you'd be in better hands with the genetic centre based there but clearly that's unfortunately not the case!

I think we're going to wait until DH's analysis and see what his results are, and if I still haven't been given any sort of appointment by then we'll look into other clinics.

I honestly think if you can afford it just go with another clinic, it's not worth waiting around longer for nothing to happen. It's a stretch for us to afford it but hopefully it will be worth it in the end x
