Is IUI the answer

Can someone offer some advice? My DH and I have been TTC No.2 for a year. We have had one mc back in June. My DH, for the last 3 months or so has been having erection problems.

I think the stress of work and the pressure of wanting another is getting to him. He is also on AD's and I think this is a side effect. I never pressure him, try and make BD'ing spontaneous and fun but after a year, its hard (or not in his case - sorry, if I dont laugh, I'll cry).

Anyway....I am desperate for another and dont want to wait. I have just read a thread re. the Lister Clinic. I didnt know what IUI was till I read it there - could it be the answer?

Has anyone had it done? My own GP who I visited a week or so ago has sent me for Day 21 blood tests which is due next week but he has admitted it will be a slow process.

I've had a child via IUI. There have been many threads here - do a search, or simply scan down the threads in the 'conception' topic. You'll get lots of information there, and should be a good place to start educating yourself about the process and whether it's for you.

Good luck.

Hi BelleColour. I don't know too much about IUI but we had to have fertility treatment for our dd and are currently going through it again to try and conceive a 2nd. The only advice I would give you is, if you can afford it at all, I would go private. In order to conceive my dd, we initially went through NHS but the process is ridiculously slow. Privately, it is so quick. We gave up on the NHS first time and went private and this time we are not even bothering with NHS at all. It has meant that we have to forsake a summer holiday this year etc but the end result is worth it. You GP would be able to refer you to a private Gynae' x

Both. Thank you. I will have a proper roam around the threads and find out more. I will also do some sums and see if we can afford it without having to sell the house!

It's been 8 years since I had IUI (private), so am sure things have changed significantly. But fwiw, the IUI proceedure was not hideously expensive. The fertility drugs are what made the process costly.

How old are you? If I recall correctly, fertility in women drops dramatically at 35, and again at 42 (generally). If your dh is the 'problem', perhaps you won't need fertility drugs?

Am nearly 37 EarlyBird. I'm not quite sure all is well inside as I am getting a lot of discomfort the days just after ovulation - I'm sure a scan will reveal all.
