Неу!!
I know this has only been 3 days and it's very early but am I doing this right? Are these scores normal? 3 of my apps say ovulation is tomorrow/Friday but one also says that I missed it
Ovulation tests CD 17 - 0.01 CD 18 - 0.02 CD 19 - 0.01
Is there any tips to catching a surge I genuinely am new to this and have no idea so any information on this or anything else is so appreciated

for additional context I had been on the contraceptive pill for 6 years without a break prior. I had health problems at the start of the year which we believe was caused by this and now for 3 months my cycle is being controlled by Norethiserone so I have a breakthrough bleed but we are looking to stop these in the next month and hope the excessive menorrhagia will stop. ALONGSIDE this I also had my thyroid removed at 21 but this is completely controlled.

any information that anyone can offer or if anyone has experienced the same I will be super thankful x

Are you still taking Norethiserone?

I am still taking it at the moment but should be stopping next month. I’m currently taking it 3 weeks with a week break and have since July x

Are you timing sex around ovulation? If so you need to do it multiple times over the week before you ovulate so the sperm is by the fallopian tubes. Unless your partner's sperm are super speedy ovulation day is too late. You might have missed your window this month.

That medication I’m sure stops your LH so stops or delays ovulation. You can’t catch a peak that doesn’t exist x

This is what I find confusing because the doctors are so critical that you by any means cannot take this medication while pregnant and I can still fall pregnant while taking it. Therefore, to fall pregnant I would have to ovulate.

so so confusing.

I want to stop taking it but I’m scared that I will have the excessive bleeding again. I may try and stop for good when I’m due to on 1st October x

The tablet prevents FSH and LH and therefore prevents ovulation. So while taking it you will not fall pregnant but in your break you could. Testing during the 3 weeks taking it is pointless because as I say the medication stops LH x

And this is why I can’t bare the doctors as they sure didn’t make this clear at all what’s so ever so being contraception less I know you can only fall pregnant in that window but they made it seem like I would ovulate and consistently would.

for more context I was on the pill for years and at the start of the year I started breakthrough bleeding and it was really heavy and wouldn’t stop. They gave me a D&C as they said my uterus lining was grossly thickened and to reduce it and give my body a rest I’ve been on this for the last 3 months. I’m massively apprehensive to stop it but realistically especially now I can’t conceive on it I don’t want to be on it forever.

I have just spoken to my doctor to see if it is safe to stop but I really appreciate your help! X

It’s worth having a look online yourself at what the tablet actually does just so you have full knowledge when you then speak to the doctors about it. Good luck! X

A lot online is conflicting, some say you can fall pregnant on it and some say that you can’t. I had an appointment with Gynae who openly said I can fall pregnant and ovulate on this so if you can’t trust the professionals it’s concerning. X

Have a google, this is from Lloyds pharmacy website:

“it may affect your ability to conceive if you are trying to get pregnant. It is likely to affect your ovulation and can stop you from ovulating”

This is from Pharmacy Planet website:

How Does Norethisterone Stop You from Getting Pregnant?
The two hormones which are responsible for ovulation are Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH). When a period delay tablet, like norethisterone is taken before menstruation, it inhibits the secretion of both FSH and LH and prevents ovulation. And since there is no egg in your fallopian tube, you can’t get pregnant.

Norethisterone also make your vaginal fluid thicker making it harder for the sperm to reach and fertilize an egg.

It also causes changes in the lining of your uterus which prevents the attachment of the egg on the uterine wall. ”

Mrsttcno1 · 20/09/2024 16:26

And here from Boots website:

“Norethisterone is a synthetic form of the natural hormone progesterone. It works by stopping you ovulating so that your womb lining does not shed. Periods are triggered every month by a drop in progesterone levels. “

They really really didn’t make this clear so of course I’ve beem apprehensive which is sad because I’m tracking something that can’t happen. I don’t know if you have experience with Norethiserone but now as I’m trying to stop it do you have any recommendations or know anything about easing out of it x

thank you again x

It depends on why you’re on it really, I have taken it before but only short term for period delay and so I just stopped taking it, there was no need to ease out of it or anything for me I just simply stopped taking it but if yours is for other reasons you may need another plan so definitely speak to your GP x
