Hi all,

AF arrived today so yet again onto another cycle. I have recently started temping to improve my chances and am also looking for advice of what vitamins everyone takes too? I currently only take folic acid.

Hello, I'm currently taking a multivitamin, a high dose vitamin D complex and coQ10 as I'm 38 and my eggs are pretty bad xx

Carportforme · 09/09/2024 22:11

I am now back to cycle day 1 too. I had a chemical a few months back and an MMC last year. Getting a bit fed up to be honest. I currently take
4000 iu vit D (I was found to be low on this)
A high dose of methyfolate L instead of folic acid
Zita west vitafem
Zita west vitafem boost
Zita west omega 3

Both me and DH took Vitabiotics (Wellman Conception and Pregnacare Conception) for 3 months. But what I think made it happen was not vitamin at all, but Conceive Plus fertility lubricant. Got the BFP first cycle we've used it (also helped a lot with SMEP approach).

I’m taking Proceive woman, vitamins E, B6, C, magnesium (every day) and starflower oil (before ovulation). Some days I can’t keep up with it all and just take proceive 🙈

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 10/09/2024 11:08

I take 400mcg of methylfolate.
Vitamin D (5000iu) as low levels are linked to miscarriage rates.
And 200mg ubiquinol (active form of coq10) as I’m 37 and this has good evidence for helping egg quality as it provides energy to the mitochondria.

My partner takes wellman conception, omega 3, ubiquinol, zinc, and carnitine, as tests showed low quality sperm so we’re throwing the kitchen sink at that.

We don’t drink or smoke and we have quite a healthy diet - lots of vegetables and whole grains, fish and some meat.

Olika · 10/09/2024 11:19

Proceive Max and Ubiquinol.

Harriet1989 · 11/09/2024 04:58

We both take proceive which has positive reviews.. I tried pregnacare but it messed up my cycles (worth searching on here too as seems common)

Mumof2namechange · 11/09/2024 05:03

Might not be relevant to you op but...The no1 thing that worked for me was getting to a healthy weight. Couldn't conceive for nearly 2y before that, then I tipped into the healthy bmi zone and it happened.

Pregnacare conception gave me constipation so I gave up after a couple of months.

teatoast8 · 11/09/2024 07:44

Pregnacare helped me

Peonies12 · 11/09/2024 08:02

No one can prove a vitamin helped them. Folic acid doesn’t help, it’s in preparation for conception, much better to focus on your diet (both you and your partner), rather than artificial supplements

OliviaO · 11/09/2024 15:55

There is absolutely no vitamin that has been scientifically and reliably proven to help with conception. Folic acid prevents certain neural tube defects, it is important.
Vitamin products sold for fertility are a source of money for pharmaceutical companies, that's all...

FrankieRose82 · 11/09/2024 16:11

I'm 41 almost 42 I fell pregnant after 3 years of no pregnancy and 3 early miscarriages previous to this. I am now nearly 7 months pregnant and 42 next month.
Prior to my pregnancy I had my vitamin D levels checked which were ridiculously low. I was on a loaded dose of 40,000 iu per week. After I completed this after 8 weeks, I then dropped down to 2000 per day.
Alongside the Vitamin D, I was taking folate instead of the folic acid, NMN 500mg capsules and 600mg of Ubiquinol with Omegas per day.

FrankieRose82 · 11/09/2024 16:13

I wanted to add I was in the gym three times a week as well as these vitamins which I think really helped.

There is research to show various vitamins have beneficial effects, eg. Vitamin C and E on increasing endometrial lining thickness. It’s individual though not one blanket supplement. But there is research to suggest certain vitamins can improve factors that affect fertility.

No there isn’t research? Or no not a blanket supplement to fix all?!

Did you get pregnant?

Daisyinthegrass · 11/05/2025 07:33

I bought a book called 'It Starts With the Egg.' It's been great and is referenced with scientific papers, I've not read the papers as I've been so busy the last few months but they're in actual scientific/medical journals so I'm assuming they've been peer-reviewed and actually carried out properly.

I'm taking a whole bunch of supplements as recommended in the book including inositol and ubiquinol and a few others. Also taking pregnance conceive max and an over the counter iron supplement.

I know a sample size of one is not a fair scientific study but my periods were so light and infrequent previously. We started the supplements at new year and since then, my periods have become heavier and more frequent - not yet regular but we're definitely noticing an improvement and signs in the run up to my period now so I'm assuming I'm actually ovulating now.

I'd definitely highly recommend the book. There's a whole section on what supplements to take in different scenarios.

I’m just jumping back on here to say this month I started taking evening Primrose oil and I was absolutely astonished by how much more ewcm I had than usual so fingers crossed this might be the month but I will definitely continue using for future cycles if not.

@Abombflowerwhich cycle days do you take evening primrose oil?

@Abombflowerwhich cycle days do you take evening primrose oil?

This is my first month taking it so I’ve taken it right up to ovulation (which I believe was yesterday, possibly today) going by opks and temps. From what I have read the idea is to take it from the first day of period to the day of ovulation and then stop until period starts again x

FlyHighSky72 · 11/05/2025 14:40

Thanks @Abombfloweryeah I thought I’d read in the past that you shouldn’t take it when pregnant but that makes sense! Might try it next cycle if this one isn’t successful

123MK · 11/05/2025 01:05

Did you get pregnant?

Eventually yes, but a good 6 months later and I had a chemical

Abombflower · 22/05/2025 15:40

Hi all, just jumping back on here (again!) to update that I got my bfp finally!! Perhaps it’s a coincidence but this was first month using evening primrose oil and noticing a huge increase in ewcm! I hope this helps someone else too x
