I was saying do you think these are to light for 14 days past ovulation? There lighter in real life . Any thoughts ?

Hi there, I would say that if you are definitely 14 doo because you are certain when you ovulated, then they are a but lighter than I would expect but some people dont even get a BFP until after they miss AF so dont worry. Give it 48 hours and test again. Hopefully they will get darker x

sel2223 · 07/09/2024 04:35

Maybe you ovulated late? Agree with pp, test again in 48 hours - hcg is meant to double every 2 days so you should see a difference

Fingerscrossed24 · 07/09/2024 07:21

@Carportforme @sel2223

Thanks for the replies . They were just so faint I thought I had probably convinced but it hasn’t implanted. I’m very worried because of my age (42). I did another 2 this morning with the same brand but after some research apparently they are very faint and I think I had a dud one in the pack also . Also it takes longer than a normal test for the results . Anyway I’ve ordered a different brand to compare the line .

From experience, your lines are pretty standard for 14dpo on those types of tests.
It took me until 18dpo and onwards for the lines to darken.

For you to start producing HCG, you have implanted but a chemical pregnancy happens when the embryo fails to develop further post implantation.

Either try different tests or use the same style of test at 18dpo and see where you are.

Fingerscrossed24 · 07/09/2024 07:48

@WutheringMights Thanks I’ve ordered some better ones . Then I will try and wait a couple of days before testing again it’s so hard not to ! 🫣

Can you pop out today to buy a digital test from a supermarket or a local chemist @Fingerscrossed24 ?

You should get confirmation either way because it takes more HCG to get a positive result on a digital.

Fingerscrossed24 · 07/09/2024 09:07

@WutheringMights

Hi I did a digital yesterday too but I’m worried that I was pregnant and now the levels are going down . Also I have pain in my back and uterus like period pains so worried it hasn’t stuck . I think I’ve been reading so much into things it’s making me abit paranoid! Like it said it’s my age and if this is real I can’t believe it !

This was my test at 15dpo and I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant. These cheap tests don't get that dark. Order a first response.
What did your digital say?
I felt the exact same coming on my period with cramps etc too.

Hi OP, I'm 41, nearly 42 and pregnant after 4 years of trying for our second child.
I get it, I really do, when you want something so much but honestly, doing a million tests will drive you crazy and change nothing at all.
I can see some faint lines which look positive and your digital too
...Congratulations you're definitely pregnant!!

No need to test again unless something like bleeding happens.
Repeated testing, obsessing over line progression and constant symptom spotting will drive you insane!
Good luck, wishing you a healthy and successful pregnancy

Fingerscrossed24 · 07/09/2024 09:33

@Elisabeth3468

Thnak yes your test looks similar. I was just surprised how light it was . And it took so long I nearly threw the first one away as thought it was negative then got a glimpse so something! But I’ve since read that brand are very faint . Your reply gives me hope though!

Thankyou so much and congratulations on your pregnancy! I can’t imagine four years of trying it must be a rollercoaster of emotions every month . Yes you’re right I need to try and relax abit now I just can’t quite believe it !
Before I joined mumsnet I didn’t even know what a chemical pregnancy was and these super early tests etc !
I’ll wait a while and then see if I get the 2-3 weeks on a digital . Then I think I will feel abit better 😁

Good luck everyone. It is so stressful. I got a stark negative on RFER at 11 dpo but, to be honest, I’m not too trusting of them. When I had my chemical I got the faintest of shadows on one at 13 dpo and then a positive digital at 14. I did use another RFER the following week and it did get darker but it was so faint for 13 dpo originally, here’s a pic of it! You will doubtless see what I mean. Therefore, although I rather suspect I won’t get a BFP I am slightly optimistic.

Carportforme · 07/09/2024 13:51

Sorry, Seem to be able to post the picture but you would need a very good quality magnifying glass to see it that much I will tell you :)

Totally agree with this. Even with the digital I would really caution using the weeks progression as a positive or negative sign. With my daughter they were useless for that and I got really worried but it was a totally normal pregnancy.

To reassure you, you only produce hCG once implantation has taken place so you wouldn't get a positive result if you hadn't implanted.

Also make sure you're reading the tests within the window they say on the test. Different tests have different sensitivity levels too. I wouldn't worry about how dark the line is, positive is positive

Fingerscrossed24 · 09/09/2024 11:30

Hi , I bought a different brand of tests now and there so much better. Those strip ones were rubbish and gave me nothing but worry! I wouldn’t recommend them at all. I’m going to use the new one's up and then not test anymore. Then wait to book a viability scan at 7 weeks. Then hopefully I can start to relax abit and really believe this is happening! Thanks for all the reassurance on here it’s helped me so much 😊

Sadly AF arrived so on to the next cycle. I'm less concerned about conceiving than losing it once I've conceived to be honest but I guess you've got to be in it to win it! X
