Just starting to TTC #1. Taking Proceive Max for the last 3 months and off the pill (cerazette) a month. We haven’t tempted, or done any ovulation kits or anything like that as I’ve not got my period back post pill yet so I felt it might be a waste of time? Stayed on the pill as we got married in July and did not want a bleed on my wedding day. Any tips or suggestions for what I/we should be doing to hopefully maximise our chances? Excited/anxious to finally give this a good go!

I'd recommend PreMom and easy @ home tests, once you have a period. Apart from that, you can make lifestyle improvements (both of you), like no alcohol or smoking, healthy diet, exercise. But essentially a lot of it is luck! Expect it could take a while, and keep occupied.

I don't really have any tips, just wanted to say good luck on your TTC journey.

I had my first at 37 and fell pregnant second cycle of trying (used conceive plus lube - don't know if helped or would have conceived quickly anyway).

I'm now pregnant again age 41 but this took a lot longer (3/4 years!). Didn't change anything or use anything as just had a 'if its meant to be, it'll be' attitude this time round.

Hi, I’m 37 and TTC (also on proceive max!) so thought I’d join the thread to wish you luck.

I would suggest starting to try to track ovulation to get the hang of it and work out what’s normal for you.

I’m a bit confused about that part to be honest as I was never regular before the pill, my cycle could be ridiculously long or very short and it never really settled. Then on Yasmin I got the bleed like clockwork, and on cerazette I got no bleed at all. I have no idea what to expect once my period comes back now (hopefully it does come back for starters😅) but I was thinking of ovulation sticks and just having sex every second day and seeing what happens for the first couple of cycles

That sounds like a good plan. If you’re having sex every other day then you are very unlikely to miss your fertile window. I find it handy to know when ovulation (roughly) is because then I’m not constantly wondering, but some might find this to be added pressure so I think it’s what works for you- you can always change

I would recommend to do hormones test and semen analysis. We waisted 1 year trying when hormone’s showed we have subfertility problems and need IVF I’m 38 as well

PermanentlyTired03 · 06/09/2024 22:16

Download a couple of ovulation apps to track when you are ovulating. I did this rather than use ovulation kits (more stressful and the costs mount up! It can often take a while after being on the pill to conceive so don’t assume somethings wrong if it’s been a few months! Good luck!

Would I have to wait for period to come back before doing this?

@Clara202 I ordered my tests from medic heck’s and done it at home of day 3 of your period. The important hormones Fsh, LH, estradiol and good to do AMH test it will show your egg reserve. And do progesterone blood test on 7dpo if this test is good then technically you don’t have to worry much atm and just keep trying. 🙏🏻 good luck

Everything other than looking after yourself starts after your period so hopefully that comes along soon. Get to know your cycle - being observant of your cervical mucus is really helpful and easy - once you see egg white texture, you’re fertile. That can be less intense than OPKs and it’s not unusual to ovulate at the different times of the month, if you see your cm change you can be strategic with your OPKs because the surge can be pretty fast. BBT is useful to confirm ovulation but it does get monotonous to do it daily and any variation skews things. Using an app is helpful to track things and see patterns, I like fertility friend. You could read up on SMEP. Similar age, TTC number 2, several losses. Good luck

Hi all,

How did you all get on?

I'm 38, hubby is 43 and we are TTC.

I am so impatient. I had the implant taken out on September 10th and the withdrawal finished on the 15th.
I have been experiencing a lot of cramping. I don't track ovulation or use opks but hoping I may have just ovulated.
I just wish I was one of them that get pregnant before a period comes....how do I keep my sanity? Lol.

Clara202 · 01/10/2025 13:13

@ProudMentor No baby or even a hint of a positive test for me over a year later. My advice is don’t second guess every cramp, twinge etc. Use your opks, take your temp, and get both of you checked out after a few months when your cycle settles. You could be lucky and have it happen right away, but I wasn’t 😅

@Clara202 Thank you.
I am just awaiting the first period and see how the cycle goes from there as it's still early days. Today is exactly 3 weeks since it was removed. I will give it another week or two as I've had it removed previously and had my first proper period five weeks after removal.
I will have to look into how to even do the tracking as I've never done it before.
Is this your first you are trying for?
I wish you all the best 😊

ForGiddyDreamer · 01/10/2025 17:43

@ProudMentor Just wanted to say good luck and that I advocate for tracking ovulation! We started a few months after my 36th birthday and with some breaks, managed to conceive around my 37th birthday. I unfortunately lost that pregnancy and then another the next month. I'm currently almost 12 weeks now and hoping this one sticks. I'll be 38 when they arrive. If you've no success after 6 months book to see your GP and get the ball rolling with fertility tests. We got our referral through the month we caught. Sex every two days from end of period works but do use the ovulation tests if you've a busy life! The month we caught we tried the conceive plus lube someone else has mentioned. Who knows if it made a difference. Most important thing : look after your own mental health and that of your partner. It can be stressful. Good luck!

ProudMentor · 01/10/2025 17:59

@ForGiddyDreamer Thank you!
I won't leave it too long.... patience is not something I do well 🤣
Sorry about your losses....we lost one in 2016 and had our son in 2017...His due date was the exact same date of our previous loss just the following year....He arrived late!
Congratulations on your pregnancy and wishing you all the best.
I am only weeks in from having the implant removed and already impatient. Certainly true about mental health and thank you for pointing that out!
Thank you 😊
