Trying to conceive after surgical miscarriage

I’ve been trying to conceive since Jan 2024. I got pregnant on 1st go Nov 2023. I had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. I have just also been diagnosed with mild hyperthyroidism on PTU. Anyone else still trying to conceive this long? Just need some hope as I feel like I’m fighting a losing battle to have a baby.

I was the same and I’m posting on this to say that the Clearblue fertility monitor (not the handheld sticks) is incredible. After months of trying and waiting for my body to reset and various ovulation sticks to work out when I was ovulating, this thing worked a treat and worked for those who have also used it. I would highly recommend it. Finally pregnant again. It did take a few months after the surgery to feel better in myself mentally and physically and really hope you fall pregnant soon too xxx

Thanks so much for the wishes. Just so sad as it feels as it won’t happen again. Can’t help think there are more things wrong! Congrats on your pregnancy.

I would just say to look up Ashermans syndrome - especially if your periods seem lighter than prior to the surgical d&c. I knew nothing about this but was diagnosed after my 2nd mmc and needed surgery to remove adhesions twice.

They seem normal but going to have a scan next weekend to see. :(.

Sorry for your loss. I've had 3 MMCs and surgical management for all of them now. After the first I didn't try again (was with my ex). After the second it took 9 months to conceive. And I've just gone into the 4th cycle since the third.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and I’m so sorry for your losses. It’s so hard for me to go through this. I was feeling so lonely. I wish you all the success. I hope we all make it out in the end. I feel so sad and so down. Especially now with worries about possible scars… even though I have normal period is this possible?

@Snhw scarring is possible but it is not likely. It's considered an uncommon side effect, please try not to worry too much about it, especially if your periods are normal.

Like @moosey89 said it is uncommon but also isn't completely unheard of and I think it is good to consider these things. If your periods are normally it's very unlikely there will be any scar tissue, I just don't think doctors warn people enough about it with surgical management.
