Hi everyone, I've found mumsnet a few weeks ago and have been lurking. Could I have the benefit of some advice please? Been TTC Number 2 for 18 months. 2 months ago I finally plucked up courage to go to GP - burying my head in the sand seemed a better option.
Anyway, I had a day21 test this month and got the results today - "unlikely to have ovulated". Feeling down because everything seemed so normal - I was having very regular periods, EWCM at the right time; it all seemed to be in order.
Can anyone advise me what's likely to happen next? I am heavy and am reducing weight albeit slowly. Would love the benefit of your experiences

You do sometimes have cycles where you don't ovulate, I had one the cycle before last (and I had EWCM). You only really know if you chart your temps/OPK's. My period arrived on time. So don't get too down from one test. I don't know what your doc will suggest next, I assume the same test again?

Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.

Thanks Claire - trying to stay positive! Hope all goes well for you too.

Hiya - I had the same last month. What's your cycle like? Mine is very short and it's possible they missed the right time. Ask if you can have it done again but like Claire says using Ovulation tests or charting should help you get an idea of when you ovulate.

Is your GP planning on referring you to a gynae?.

I would be wary of using either OPK's or temp charts in such circumstances as you have been ttc now for 18 months.

Both of you should be tested further by a gynaecologist to pinpoint any problems. Infact gynaes generally like to see people after 12 months of ttc without success and six months if they are over the age of 35.

Why shorter if you are older Attila? I assumed that it just takes longer the older you get so wasn't being too worried.

We've been trying 7 months now post a mc in Sept, regular cycles and I temped/OPK'd in all of them so know we timed things right. We're both 35. We conceived after not preventing for 2 years but we avoided sex roughly mid cycle. Now wondering if we should be going to the docs already.

Hi both - my cycle is "normal"... i.e. 29 days and very regular.
The GP has given me the option of referral or not - at this point I have decided to have a couple of day21 tests done as she has said that if i'm not ov'ing then she will prescribe me drugs to help. I should say that she has been really very positive and supportive and has said that on the grounds I conceived naturally with number 1 and that my periods are very regular then I might well fall into the camp of people who take longer to conceive.
What do you think - should I change my plans and ask for a referral?
