not sure if this is conception or pregnancy forum question.

Unfortunately I will be having D&C hopefully over the next couple of days .

can I ask how people were after this ?? Will I be in pain? How did you cope emotionally.

I can’t find any information on line and the department is closed to ask. Will my partner be able to be on the ward when I get back? I can’t imagine being on my own after this. It’s Birmingham women’s hospital.

im finding the concept of walking out of the women’s hospital without our baby really hard knowing we would of had to leave ours behind x

Sorry for your loss.
I wasn't at the same hospital as you but when I had mine I was given a side room and allowed someone with me all day. They were waiting in my room when I came back from theatre. The staff were sensitive and kind.

I bled a lot so had to stay longer and have extra blood tests but most people can leave relatively soon after once they've had something to eat and drink and had a wee. I should've been home early afternoon after the op being first thing.

I had period pain type cramps after and some worse intermittent strong cramps but managed okay with only a bit of ibuprofen and a hot water bottle. The worst part for me was ongoing morning sickness for a few days whilst my hcg was still high.

My recovery was somewhat delayed due to anaemia and retained products but I was unlucky. I think most people feel physically better within a few days. Emotionally, it varies. I felt very up and down for the first few weeks. I would encourage you to take plenty of time off work to allow yourself to heal.

Hi OP, I had a D&C in July. My husband was allowed to be with me even though I was in a women’s ward they were quite nice about it. Once they deemed me ok I was sent home couple of hours later. I had heavy bleeding for 1/2 days then it was lighter. Didn’t really have any cramping or much pain. My HCG was over 122000 so it took over 6 weeks for it to come down felt very cruel as I still had pregnancy symptoms. Hope your surgery goes well x

So sorry for your loss 💔 I had mine last week and it went really smoothly, I had my own room and husband was able to be with me until I went down to theatre and he was there when I came out. In terms of pain and bleeding, I didn’t really have any - the only pain was from the tablet that softens your cervix. I didn’t really bleed after and haven’t had any bleeding since - just spotting for a few days, I hope yours goes smoothly. The emotional aspect is probably the hardest but everyone is so so kind and supportive at the hospital. Thanking of you x

Hi there. I had this at the same hospital (30 years ago).
The actual procedure was quite straightforward and apart from taking paracetamol and bleeding like a period there was nothing else.
Emotionally I think everyone is different. I was so disappointed for us and the extended family. I took the week off work but there didn't seem to be any point staying home longer.
Someone said to me that it gets easier and not to give up - they were right.
Take care.

Thank you all. My surgery has been moved and I am due in tomorrow morning. As it stands now I will have a side room but things can change overnight if they have any emergencies. M feeling really stressed sad and very scared xxx
