We will be TTC from December. I already take a multi vit with folic acid and extra iron as I have anaemia. We both eat good diets and don’t smoke.

What else could or should I be taking?

That’s all.

Extra vit d is good

It reduces miscarriage risk

And most brits are vit d deficient

We are under fertility clinic -
And consultant there told me good b12 levels are important

I take pregncare for conception
Consultant recommended it

Stay active.

Have things going on in life outside of ttc as a good distraction. Ttc is often a marathon, not a sprint.

Exercise.

As others have mentioned.
Vitamins, healthy diet, quit the smoking, reduce the drinking.
I guess its a good time to financially plan too - it could happen straight away so to save money ready and plan any DIY needed in the house.
Keeping active - I did quite a bit of pilates and found my birth and recovery to be quite good, maybe I was just lucky

Tommy’s has a planning for pregnancy tool which covers pretty much all your bases.

Just make sure that the multivitamin you’re taking is pregnancy safe, standard ones will contain vitamin A which is teratogenic in high quantities. And agree with vitamin d, very important.

If I could choose again I'd do plenty of pilates and resistance exercise. Especially core and glutes. My glutes seemed to disappear in 3rd tri/3 months postpartum

I'm planning to start TTC no 2 in November/December, I had bad pelvic girdle pain in my first pregnancy so after speaking to a pelvic health physio I'm doing as much strength training as I can and generally being as active as possible. Also planning to call GP and see when my smear is due because it's been a while now since I had my last one. Other than that, just vits and eating well!

Proceive Conception. Takes 3 months to improve your egg health.

Thank you for reminding me that mine is due!

If I could go back in time I would have done Pilates and sorted my back out and in general got stronger by using weights before conception

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 26/08/2024 20:02

And also relationship counselling! To work out how you'll both cope with the shift in you needing more support and being able to offer less
