As title says. I have 2 older children from previous relationship, ttc with bf. We need ivf as he has low sperm count.

had ivf scan last week everything seemed good, had consultation yesterday and they said they’d offer mild ivf, and my amh is 7.6

they didn’t sound as positive. Just asking for advice really and any support or anyone else the same.

I would consider if there's lifestyle decisions that can quickly bring up sperm count ahead of IVF.

I'm sure you probably have already. Good luck

Well the ivf clinic have been back in touch, they’ve said 10,000. We can’t afford that, so looks like we’re looking for a miracle

If IVFs not an option (and money aside, I'd consider if you'd want to go through the stress, time and physical commitment of IVF, when you have kids already), lifestyle improvements are the best thing to look at, such as diet, exercise, giving up alcohol/smoking/caffeine, supplements.

My bf has no children, we’ve given everything up already except the caffeine. That’s something I’m going to be discussing with him when he gets home.

I just feel like everyone thinks you’re ready for the scrap heap, I see new moms all the time that look hell of a lot older than me.

Did they mention any tests for your ovaries after reading AMH as 7.6? Anything over 4 is considered abnormally high, it could be a sign of PCOS.

Back when I was TTC DD1 my DH had pretty awful sperm counts (as per two sperm analyses) but he managed to improve them in the next few months as I finally got pregnant after 16 months TTC a few months later. I'm not sure what changes he made in the interim, but it shows how these things can change around pretty quickly

There's different units of measurement clinics use.
There's ng/ml or pmol/L.
7.6 would be abnormally high for ng/ml but low (but normal for 40+ year old) for pmol/L.

Ah I see, I assumed it would be ng/ml as that’s the only measurement I have seen :)

Please don’t give up! I had a frozen embryo transfer in July using an egg from when I was 43 and I’ll be 8 weeks pregnant in a couple of days. Had the scan and the embryo looks perfect: strong heartbeat, 14mm etc.
But I would recommend IVF if you really want a baby with your BF as egg quality starts to diminish rapidly at our age. I have used London clinics and a clinic in Athens (husband is from there originally). If you’re concerned about cost, the IVF in Athens was €2,500 without medication. You could do a fresh blastocyst transfer to avoid the cost of freezing but that means you can’t do genetic testing. Regardless, the cost in Athens will be cheaper than London.
