Small fibroid and thin uterine lining - anyone got/had similar?

GP referred me for an ultrasound for possible PCOS and it found a small fibroid, and uterine lining 2mm (day 7, I believe it should be 5-7mm at that stage). Waiting to speak to GP to discuss but wondered if anyone has had similar?

This was done before waiting 1 year TTC and I’m really grateful to the GP, as asymptomatic (other than light periods) so wouldn’t have known!

I have a large fibroid and am on a surgery waiting list but have just found out I'm pregnant. Pretty unsure how this will go...

Do you know where your fibroid is? This makes all the difference to how much of an issue it is. I also had a thin lining on the scan btw.

Duckgirl · 15/07/2024 12:04

I am guessing my lining is thin as I don’t bleed at all really. Just a light pink smudge day one then gone. I’m trying to get the doctors to listen but just keep getting palmed off. Saving to go private.
did they suggest anything for your lining?

Oh no! Congratulations on your pregnancy, hope the fibroids doesn’t cause too much of an issue.

its subserosal and small sized, I think just under 2cm length.

yes my very scant periods - mine are 2 days but sometimes only notice pink on wiping or minimal light coloured blood on a pantyliner. Have you had a blood test? I have low oestrogen which I think is related too.
Frustrating about the doctors! Worth seeing another GP? Or even different practice? I think it can really vary!

@1woodpecker hi! When I had my internal scan about 6 months ago- I was told I had a fibroid and a lining of 2.5mm at CD30! Had a repeat scan that following month at CD20 and my lining was still very thin at the stage at 5.7mm. But fibroid had gone.
For the months following, I worked on helping my uterus lining doing all the things people recommended online, including weekly reflexology sessions (at least for 6 weeks and then go to monthly). Now on month 11 of TTC baby number 1, and went in for a private hycosy to see if there was any blockages- no blockages which was great but also was told my lining was 8.7mm at CD14 which the doctor said was perfect (I hadn’t ovulated yet and they could see I was about too) so that certainly made me feel better about the whole thing!
there are ways and means to helping with thickness of the lining in a lot of cases and a lot that you can do yourself which helped me feel more in control. Fingers crossed this month ends with a BFP so I can say for 100% that everything was worth it ☺️ good luck with it all.

I ended up having a fertility work up abroad, because my UK GP was useless. I did work abroad part of each year though. Finally my UK GP did a day 21 blood test, then because it was normal- told me to relax and nothing more was done. I'd been TTC for years at that point! I wasn't on MN and had no one close to ask. In hindsight, I wish I'd changed GP's sooner and pressed for a fertility referral earlier too.

My U/S showed 3 fibroids, all about marble sized, so fairly small by their standards apparently. As part of the fertility testing, I had a hycosy (HCG is similar) which uses dye to give a 3D image on the uterus and check the tubes are clear. They were able to say that the fibroids weren't blocking the tubes and shouldn't be impacting fertility. 1 was on a stalk, 1 was in the muscle and another somewhere else! They also said that surgery wouldn't be recommended on mine.

Have you are your partner had other fertility testing done yet, or just the ultrasound? Was the PCOS negative? I'd be asking to be referred to a fertility specialist. When is the 12mths TTC? If its 10ish months, I'd be stretching that to 12mths because the wait can be very long anyways. Have you always had such light periods? If you aren't happy, I'd see a different GP at your practice to see what they say. best of luck and happy to answer any questions if I can.

I have pcos
I also have a small fibroid
My gynae / and fertility arent concerned re the fibroid

Mrsredlipstick · 15/07/2024 15:10

I had fibroids and have two healthy adult children. First pregnancy I lost an ovary but my second DC came out of the remaining one.
I only had three day periods.
A long time ago but I hope that helps. X

@1woodpecker small subserosal will have no impact on your uterine lining or cavity. Something to cross off the worry list!

Submucosal (inside the uterus) can impact implantation and retention, as can large submural (in the wall) if it distorts the endometrium.

Thank you all - your messages have helped me feel better about it! ☺️

Edited

That’s great! Fingers crossed for your BFP 🤞🏻 I was thinking of reflexology, or perhaps acupuncture. What else did you try?

Never had heavy periods but they’ve definitely been getting lighter. I have been under loads of stress in the past year, so perhaps that’s part of it. My GP seems good so far… but I’ll see what they say when I have an appt to discuss results.
were no way near 12 months yet, and I’m guessing PCOS is a no as I read the test results on the nhs app and says ovaries normal. I’ve done fertility blood tests - low oestrogen and progesterone, testosterone a bit high, everything else seems normal 🤞🏻

@Mrsredlipstick you lost an ovary in relation to your fibroid?
