Hi I've name changed for this thread but I've been a long time lurker and occasional lurker . I've recently found out I have PCOS which has gutted me completely one doctor told me that it was pretty much game over as I wasn't ovulating and we've been trying to conceive baby number 3 for a year ( the other 2 were very easy to conceive and we didn't have to try .
The second doctor told me he could tell from my blood work that I was very close to ovulation when my bloods were done but as far as the tests are concerned it's not happening . I've only recently started documenting the tests but all last week they were negative . There still negative but last night I got the highest result I've had but when I tested again before bed it was really low and the same this morning is this normal ? 🤦🏻‍♀️ sorry for the long post I'm trying to figure out my next steps as Im gutted to be honest and to make it worse my best friend and 2 of my husbands friends have just announced there pregnant and I'm struggling with how low it's making me feel !

Help me understand these ovulation tests !

Were the doctors you saw actual fertility specialists rather than GPs? Struggling to understand why they would say it was "game over" because of PCOS. This is known to be one of the easiest issues to treat and you can get prescriptions to trigger ovulation. You may need to go private because of your existing children but this will be area dependent.

No they were just regular gps . He just said that I wasn't getting pregnant because I had pcos and when I asked what was the next step he said there was nothing else to do and that Pcos never goes away and that was it I had to go away and do my own research as he never even told me what it was .
As far as I'm aware I've not even been referred to a gynecologist.

GPs are often useless with this stuff and the ones you've seen sound particularly hopeless. Suggest trying to see a different one and pushing for any referral or prescription they can offer themselves. If you can afford private, consider going straight for that (you don't say where in the country you are but private consultation costs are usually £200-£300).

Your situation is not hopeless. Look up some past PCOS threads on this site for more advice on next steps.

I actually think you should consider putting in a complaint regarding not even being told what PCOS is. There are some other health issues they should look into like cholesterol levels independent of fertility considerations. If your BMI is elevated btw, lowering it can restore ovulation in some cases.

Thank you . I don't live in the uk I think we're classed as a British isle . I'll defo have a look into going private and push for more tests to be done also . I've been doing a bit of my own research this morning and have come to realise that my life's not over and I can still get pregnant just need to try harder !
