NHS may refuse your case after April

I was talking to someone in the NHS yesterday about fertility treatments, and he was saying that after April, couples who already have one or more children and who are considered "sub-fertile" will be refused treatments (such as encouraging ovulation) on the NHS because of new guidelines.

I don't know whether this applies to all trusts but I thought it might be worth looking into this further if you think you might be in this category.

My Trust won't do clomid and tracking now - i had to pay for it to have scans etc to check all was ok.

Hi morningpaper, I think your friend was talking about the new NICE guidelines. They can be read on the website (www.nice.org.uk/pdf/CG011publicinfoenglish.pdf) but they are in effect recommendations to government and I can't remember what the government has decided to provide. They are trying to ensure that what is provided is evidence-based and fairly consistent. For years, there has been huge differences in what fertility services the NHS will provide in each area - some are very generous, some provide nothing at all. Certainly, some refuse fertility treatment to women who already have children, others to women without male partners, others will different age limits etc. Whatever is implemented, it will probably mean levelling down in some areas and levelling up in others.

Wonder if it is worth me going to see GP now to mention that I am TTC and that last time took so long??? Only on month 5 of TTC this time, but DD took much much longer. Do you reckon they'd take me seriously after 6 months, rather than 12. Not even sure if I am OVing - FF doesn't detect it
