Clomid or not to clomid? TTC #2 age 35

Hi all

I wondered if anyone could share their experience if they've been in a similar situation. AF just arrived on cycle 10 of TTC #2. I have my gorgeous DC1 who was conceived cycle 1 at age 31.

After cycle 6 of TTC I was referred to fertility due to my age (35) and health issues of my DC1 (congenital heart disease being one of them). I've had blood tests, ultrasound and hycosy and my husband has had a SA. All results normal. The doctor prescribed me clomid but I've felt uneasy taking it (scans show I ovulate).

I guess what I'm asking is has anyone taken clomid before TTC for 12 cycles and have not been monitored? I asked the doctor what the risks are in taking clomid if I already ovulate and they said hyperovulation which can result in twins or sometimes cysts.

I feel torn in just going for the clomid and just letting nature take it's course which is clearly just (hopefully) taking longer this time round.

Thanks in advance!

I wasn't monitored during clomid, other than a scan first cycle, the rest I was left to tear on myself.
Clomid wasn't successful for me and it didn't even help me ovulate in a timely manner. My ovulation was all over the place.
6 cycles really isn't that long to be trying. Don't feel discouraged about age, 35 is young. I got pregnant naturally at 37 after an eternity trying but miscarried .
I'm now pregnant again via ivf as we discovered an issue with sperm and one of my tubes but pregnancy is still very much achievable beyond 35
Its so hard to advise anyone what to do. In your situation as you've clearly been able to get pregnant before I'd give it another while. Clomid can really mess with your hormones and cycles in my experience. I wouldn't use it again. I'd mentioned to fertility doctors / midwives about my age and they made me feel like a spring chicken. They told me lots of women are having babies older and older now and at my age 38 Is still considered young to them

@VioIetMoon thanks so much for your reply, it's really helpful. Every month when I feel AF coming I convince myself the next month will be the month I take clomid and then something in my gut has stopped me. Obviously nothing is certain but my body seems to be 'ok' and I agree, I was terrified at the age 35 but my close friend and midwife said the 'new' age of fertility decline is 42/43 so I'm less panicky about that now.

I'm so happy to hear you are now pregnant via IVF. Sounds like you've had a journey yourself x
