Hello everyone

So, after 3 definite (probably at least 2 more) chemical pregnancies, male factor subfertility discovery, I'm not ovulating without being pumped full of hormones and possible PCOS and endo...I'm thinking about giving this all up. Stopping the hormones and the meds and leaving it up to 'nature' or even avoiding around ovulation because I don't know if I can take another chemical anytime soon.

This is one of the hardest decisions I'll likely ever make. I wanted to know how far you think you'd go to have your own baby?

Have you already had any investigations that might hint at the reason for recurrent early loss?

moosey89 · 12/06/2024 17:59

@JuniperandI sorry you're going through so much. Can I ask how much time you've been trying for? It's such a personal decision - I've been TTC for around 4 years (but a big 3 year gap after 2.5 years of trying ended in a missed miscarriage). We're still trying again after miscarriage no.3 but it's getting harder to want to keep going as time goes on.

As the pp said, have you spoken to the doctor about a referral for recurrent loss? And also about potential fertility treatment beyond what you're already on if it's taking a long time to conceive?

JuniperandI · 12/06/2024 18:46

It's been over 2 years for us.

Yeah I have blood tests every month and have had ultrasounds.

My progesterone and AMH are rock bottom low and I'm on Letrozole, HCG injections and cyclogest. We strongly suspect PCOS with possibly endo.

My husband doesn't want to be an 'old' Dad (he's 40 next year) and I'm 35 this year so time is ticking away quickly!

@moosey89 sorry for your losses ❤

@JuniperandI that sounds like you've got a lot going on! I don't know a whole lot about PCOS but is there any way you could get an official diagnosis? I know the effort to try and get a diagnosis for endo is absolutely insane, hopefully it's a little less insane for PCOS.

Would your GP refer you to the fertility clinic? I've got a referral due to the combination of sub fertility and recurrent miscarriage. Not sure what will come of it yet but it at least feels like we're trying every avenue, you know? As part of this referral (and the recurrent miscarriage clinic referral I had) I've had loads of bloods and also awaiting an HSG to check my tubes.

So sorry again that you're going through all this - please know your not alone. I'm 35 too and feel time ticking on.

How are your FSH and follicle count?

Have you had a hysteroscopy already to check your lining more closely?

JuniperandI · 12/06/2024 19:23

@sirensong my FSH is ok and follicle count are normal. No hycosy yet, NHS fertility waiting time around here is years unfortunately.

@moosey89 thanks ❤ I'm doing Napro at the moment (basically medicated and closely monitored cycles). I've got that until the end of the year and then we may look at IVF but I'm not sure IVF is for us.

@JuniperandI I hope you get a surprise soon this year so you don't have to make that decision (I'm in a similar boat, but my jump will likely be straight to the choice of IVF from the fertility clinic referral as all my hormone levels and ovulation etc are apparently ok - plus waiting on genetic testing from my last loss which might decide for us!). Good luck xx

My friends who made the decision to stop said they did it when it became harder to go on - mentally, physically, financially, than to stop. So sorry you’re going through this, it’s shit.
