Would someone be able to have a look at my premom app ovulation tests please? This is the first time month I've taken one every day, usually we just wait til the middle of the cycle and try more often! This is our fifth cycle, late 30s, cycle length approx 33-35 days, going for 6th pregnancy (6 year old, four early miscarriages, neonatal loss). I know I'm just entering the fertile period so early days but the results look extremely low to me. Am I doing it wrong? I'd struggle to test earlier than around 4 as I understand you shouldn't use FMU? Thanks.

I'm so sorry to hear of all your losses. Are you having a couple of hours hold before you use them? Yeah don't use fmu. I usually do once a day but times vary depending on work etc. I ovulate around cd20 so usually start testing around CD11. Mines are always quite low until a couple of days before I ovulate. I'll attach mine to show you so far this month. I do a couple of times a day the closer it gets to cd19 when I usually get peak.

@jellyfish2 thank you so much for your posts, that is very helpful. I see it really peaks from quite low to very high in about a day and a half. This gives me hope! I think I've being trying to wait two hours generally but may be mistaken.

@Greymalkin12 just keep testing, you might find like me it goes up and down quickly so best to do it twice a day.

Hi OP, if your cycle is usually 33-35 days it's likely you aren't ovulating until around CD20, or later if you have a short luteal phase. In general, the luteal phase is 14 days long. But for many women, it can be anywhere betweek 10-14 days long, in which case you could potentially not ovulate until like CD23-25. If you're CD15 today, just carry on, it doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong.

@Girlfolk @jellyfish2 thank you very much!

Sorry can I ask why you don't use FMU for ovulation tests?

jellyfish2 · 13/06/2024 02:50

@Greymalkin12 did you get your peak?

Hi, your LH hormone typically peaks in the afternoon so if you’re only doing FMU, you might miss it if you have a short peak. It’s okay to use if you’re also going to test in the afternoon as well and it is generally advised to test twice a day when nearing your peak.

@jellyfish2 thanks for asking. This cycle I've also been trying the clear blue advanced digital ones and got a flashing smile yesterday and a static smiley today (and the premom test yesterday afternoon hit 0.44) so hopefully getting there! Fingers crossed.

@Greymalkin12 that sounds promising. I read that the CB picks it up sooner. What did your strip ones say today?

Greymalkin12 · 13/06/2024 15:43

Thanks @jellyfish2 this looks more promising!

It does so you'll probably ovulate tomorrow by the looks of things! I've not caught my surge, I'm wondering if because I'm nightshift this week it's been during the night and I've missed it as I expected a surge today.

@jellyfish2 good luck with this cycle, it's mad how quickly happens and as you say hard to combine with work etc
