Do ovulation tests work?

I’m currently 9 months into TTC baby number 2. I had a gynaecologist appointment back in end of March for other reasons and mentioned TTC and that I had done one cycle using sticks and never got a peak. She said they don’t work and are only good for the people who sell them.
So I have no clue if I’m even ovulating in a cycle I have extreme bloating and bad sore boobs continuous from about 2 weeks before my period until I start but no other signs that I’m ovulation. I can’t track bbt because my toddler wakes up the odd time in the night.

Is what she said about test true or should I try using them again?
Also if they’re anything vitamins or anything that can encourage TTC or tips would be help full please. We’re already doing the dtd regularly.
thank you x

They worked for me to conceive ds. I found I had to check them twice a day around 10am and between 3-5pm sometimes it would rise by 5pm and then drop again by the next morning. I did bbt alongside it and it agreed with the lh tests.

Hi
I used clearblue ovulation sticks and they always worked - sometimes my peak was a day or two after clue suggested but they were fine.
I imagine using them is only helpful in certain circumstances- for me I had to time dtd 🙈 due to life circumstances dtd so it helped me plan.
some people might find them frustrating or puts pressure on timing dtd but equally other might feel it helps them conserve energy.
I found them reassuring I was ovulating
I went on conception vitamins and got hubby on men health ones too
worked on both out diets
Good luck

That's a strange comment from the doctor, they are definitely a useful guide for most. Do you have PCOS or another hormonal issue that could mean they aren't a good option? Wondering why they would have said that.

They worked for me! I could see the levels rise and peak each month and then I’d often feel ovulation cramps within 12-24 hours of the peak. Surprised the doc said that.
They are useful to time when to DTD unless the formal NHS advice to do it every other day all month long is realistic for you!!

They worked for me. The result is the 7 week old laying next to me currently!
