Multiple losses

I've been trying for over a year and had two chemicals and now a MMC at 10.5 weeks.

I'm just wondering what the NHS offers now that I've had three miscarriages. If I get pregnant again will they offer betas or more scans? Will I get any access to fertility medication or support? I have had a successful pregnancy already (my DS is now 6) so know I won't be able to get IVF but I'm really not sure if there's anything else. I'm also sure waiting lists for any referrals will be really long 😬 I'm starting to worry that age is creeping up on me and my next baby might not happen 😞

Sorry to hear about your losses 😔 I also had a MMC at 10 weeks followed by a chemical and then a MC at 6 weeks. I was told that the chemical doesn’t count so I’d have to have a 3rd miscarriage at 6+ weeks to be eligible for any investigations. I’m now 16 weeks pregnant and haven’t had any additional testing etc but I had 2 early scans at EPU but I had to request them.
Fingers crossed for you that next time is the one 🤞🏻 Miscarriage is heartbreaking and my heart goes out to you xxx

@EnfysB that's awful you were told that - if you've had 3 losses, regardless of gestation, the national advice is to have testing done. Really makes me angry that there's doctors out there diminishing early losses.

@MyselfWho I'm so sorry for your losses.

After my third loss (2 MMCs and a chemical) I had a ton of tests done for common causes of miscarriage such as thyroid issues and blood clotting disorders, all came back normal, as well as an internal ultrasound to check for any structural abnormalities. I've sadly just found out I've had my 4th loss, another MMC and am having genetic testing done on the pregnancy tissue as I'm having surgical management tomorrow.

In terms of support for this pregnancy after 3 losses, the EPU have been looking after me, and booked me for a scan at 7 weeks no questions asked (and follow ups until the 12 week scan too), as well as any progesterone prescriptions as appropriate (and aspirin if that's suitable too).

There's no additional fertility support as such, it's a different clinic (recurrent miscarriage as opposed to fertility) so even though I don't have any children yet, the fertility clinic referral is totally separate for me and I've had to go a separate pathway for that.

@MyselfWho I'm so sorry for your losses 💐sending lots of love and strength to you and your partner 💛

I'm 34 and been TTC since Dec 23. Unfortunately I have experienced 2 chemical pregnancies 💔 20th March (4W2D) and 26th April (5W3D) 💔

I've been all over the place with my emotions this past month. I decided to speak with the Dr and requested a blood test and ultrasound. My Dr advised that the "statistics" are once you have had 3 losses they will refer me/you to the recurrent miscarriage clinic. My Dr said in the meantime he will go ahead with the test.

I had my first ever blood test on Tuesday , my results came back same day - "Normal - no concerns". I am relieved that all is well that way. I'm just waiting for an appointment to come through from the hospital for a transvaginal scan.

I'm trying to remain positive in the sense that we are both fertile and can catch. I just need help in the sense that my body needs to accept it rather than reject it 💕

My period is due tomorrow (I'm regular) So I guess time will tell very soon.

I would speak to your Dr and get referred. Please keep me posted xx
