I told my GP today at 8:30 and I was sent for a face to face appointment at 1:20. I did a test at the surgery, and saw the same GP who broke the news to us that we were likely at the end of our baby making journey in January, but said we could keep trying while I wait for my hysterectomy if we wanted to. He said today he’s never been happier to have been wrong in his life Grin

Given endometrial hyperplasia has an increased risk of ectopics he wants me seen by EPU, so I have a scan booked for 10:30 tomorrow morning and they’ll probably also do bloods.

OnePinkDuck · 28/05/2024 16:54

@picklypopcorn that’s great news. Im pleased you are getting a scan, seems very sensible. Hope it all goes ok!!

@picklypopcorn sorry to ask this but how were you diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia and why are you having a hysterectomy?

Only asking as I've been told I have a thick uterine lining, at a couple of scans now, which drs have said it shouldn't affect fertility, but when looking at what I can do about it 've only found treatments for postmenopausal women.

Also funny you should say you have a higher risk of ectopic, I had one last year which was unexplained as I have no risk factors.

It’s a whoooole thing but basically:

After my son was born my post partum bleeding lasted 16 months.

I then fell into semi- regular but insanely heavy cycles for about 2 years

in October last year I started bleeding and it didn’t stop for 4 months.

in the December, I’d been put on progesterone to try and stop it because I was becoming dangerously anaemic by that point. Then the flood gates opened and one night the bleeding was so bad it was literally pouring out of me.

I ended up in hospital for 3 days, during that time they scanned and found my endometrium was 22mm thick which is very thick.

I was then put on a 2 week diagnostic pathway for endometrial cancer due to the thickness grade and I had a biopsy via hystroscopy just after Christmas.

The biopsy showed complex atypical hyperplasia which is a pre-cancerous condition with a high likelihood it will develop into full blown endo cancer at some point soon, so I have been offered hysterectomy to prevent that.

Im on the waiting list, but we were advised the waiting list can be 2 years, so I’m having a biopsy every 6 months to check for cancer cells. However, my first biopsy is due in July and obviously now won’t be happening!

Also forgot to mention that in January when I got the news about the pre-cancer stuff, they also said due to that and PCOS, the likelihood of us conceiving given I only ovulate about twice a year were very slim, and then added to that, they weren’t sure whether implantation would even be possible given the thickness and instability of the cells in my endometrium. We made our peace with it but it was a gynae consultant who basically said to us that while we wait for a hysterectomy there’s no reason why we couldn’t try for a second baby, she said she’s seen babies appear in the most unlikely circumstances and we wouldn’t do any harm to me by continuing to try. So we did.

I was put on high dose progesterone to thin the endometrium and stop the bleeding (which it adid in mid-feb) until the start of April, Then I had what I thought was a withdrawal bleed from the progesterone at the end of April (23rd - 26th). Turns out that wasn’t a withdrawal bleed and it was actually the start of a normal, healthy cycle. I must have rogue ovulated on/ around 13th May because now, I’m impossibly pregnant Grin

All this is why they want to scan me and understand the geography going on in there ASAP, there’s essentially 2 questions: is the pregnancy in the right place and if it is, is the endometrium an appropriate thickness for the pregnancy to have a chance because if there’s no chance this pregnancy can go to term, we would need to TFMR so I can continue with the planned biopsy in July.

So lovey see bfp on here - congratulations to you all -
im on cd 32 today usually have cycles 30-36 days but u noticed a lack of sore boobs - usually I get extremely heavy and sore the week leading up to af which of course I always wonder if it’s pg related…
absolutely nothing atm , I had an Asda test left over which I did last night and thought I see a vfl the start of something , wasn’t convinced as I’ve had some lovely false bfp before ,, tho I’m starting to believe the lighter lines seem to be more accurate in the early days ,, anyway I wanted to see how it dried . I can see a line but pretty sure it means nothing as not very clear and even had to adjust to see it on photo but adding it for ppls reference anyway .. I will retest at the weekend if af doesn’t show

@picklypopcorn you've really been through it! I really hope that it's all good news for you.

Do you have low progesterone? Mine is nowhere as bad as you - last scan was 13mm on day 9. They didn't seem to think there's anything wrong with hormones but I decided to do one of my own back and it came back low progesterone ( I definitely ovulated though as I get pains), so I've been wondering if that's the cause.

It could be - I have PCOS and excess oestrogen as a result, so my progesterone is probably fairly normal but my oestrogen is just way above where it should be. Hyperplasia is usually caused by an imbalance in the 2 hormones rather than too much of them if that makes sense?

picklypopcorn · 29/05/2024 17:33

Afternoon all - I had my scan this morning, they couldn’t see anything but that’s normal for this early on. They’ve taken blood for HCG, I’m going back on Friday for more HCG and they’ll call me Friday afternoon with my levels.

Yeah there’s definitely a line, the pink test from today looks really weird though, I can see multiple lines but I wouldn’t trust that - can you get hold of more clear blue and do them in the morning?
