TTC with underactive thyroid

Hi there!
New here! I have decided I'm ready to ttc again.
I'm 37, I have a 12yo and have had multiple since having him.
The last time I ttc was about 3 years ago, after I found out I had an underactive thyroid but levels were controlled with thyroxin.

I wasn't able to conceive after 8 months and came to accept that what will be will be and for the last two years decided we won't try again.
Here I am now, ready to ttc again.
However.....I have an underactive thyroid and have read in so many places that it could be the cause of losses and also struggle to ttc.
My levels are okay according to my doc, tsh is 3.5 and I've read it should be no higher than 2.5.
Would love some advice and any success stories.
I have bloods booked in for next week but as always, im impatient and just want to be pregnant!

Hi, just want to start with I’m in no way an expert but just want to let you know my experience.

Before I got diagnosed as having an under active thyroid, I had two early losses.

Fast forward a few years of levothyroxine my thyroid is now around 0.77-1.5 but always above 2.5 (that is optimum for conceiving I got told this by an endocrinologist before starting to try to get pregnant.) I literally got pregnant the first month, no issues. This time (currently 11w pregnant) I got pregnant again 1st time of trying. My TSH was 0.77. Age 32.

Basically 3.5 is too low, it needs to be above 2.5 really, that’s might be what is causing your difficulties. Optimal range is 0.4 - 2.5, a quick bit of Googling will also tell you that. But also, it might not be anything to do with your thyroid, extra tests might be needed?

wishing you the best of luck xx

Thanks for your reply.
My docs are not the best. Anytime I question something it's always 'normal range' and that's all they're bothered about.
I'm not the most clued up person on this and previous mc they have never looked into it even when I asked multiple times.

Bloods are next week, I'm CD5 today and very impatient so probably no pregnancy this cycle round with thyroid levels of 3.7!!

I just don't want to stress too much about it because I know that doesn't help but I'm so impatient.

Just checked my GP records and my TSH was under 1 when I got pregnant - the GP agreed to increase my dose of levothyroxine slightly when we started TTC. We were very fortunate that it only took us 6 months (and I was late 30s as well) and we have a healthy 5 yr old now. It absolutely can happen fine, but if you can get your GP onside it may make things easier.

That's so kind of you to check, thank you!
I'm so tempted to uncreate the dose myself but I know that's the worst thing to do without being advised by the doc, plus it might mess up my bloods for next week.
Time is so precious when etc and every month counts, I don't want to miss this months windows or have it go to waste.

Hello @beezoh starting to TTC myself with hypothyroidism and saw your thread, how are you getting on if you don’t mind me asking?
