Hi,

We've been trying for a year now. We have male factor infertility but continue to conceive naturally whilst waiting for ivf consult.

I'm usually very regular with cycles between 26-28 days. But this month my period arrived on day 19! I spent half the day thinking it was implantation, but it became too heavy and currently on day 2.

I'm not sure why I'm even writing here, I've googled obviously, and it's even hormones going wrong or start of perimenopause (I'm 35)

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,

@LilyPoppet1 I did last year after what must have been COVID! sometimes our bodies just throw us off though for no particular rhyme or reason 😊

@LilyPoppet1 I had this last month. Been regular my whole life (27-29 days) and last month was coincidently the first month we started trying for No 2... Weirdest thing in the world when AF showed up 7 days early! I was convinced (and hopeful!) it was implantation bleeding to start with but alas it then developed into a period... It was v strange but I started tracking a new cycle and my LH peaked on CD12 and I ovulated on CD13 and am currently 4DPO and waiting...

I'm 38 and haven't read anything about peri menopause, hoping that's not the case?!

As @ThelastRolo20 said, I guess sometimes our bodies just throw weird curveballs at us! If you're sure it's a period then just start tracking a new cycle again as if it is and see if things happen as normal... But some people do have heavier implantation bleeding too so maybe test HCG nearer to when your AF is due?

The only time that happened to me was when I had an ectopic pregnancy - so it basically was implantation bleeding but in the tube and early because it hadn't travelled down to the uterus yet. If you do have a positive test I'd definitely see your GP/EPU and get a scan.
I wasn't going to but DH convinced me to get checked out at the GP since I'd had a "period" and that basically saved my life.

Not to give you false hope as it may just be an early period, but my implantation bleed was exactly like my normal period. Fairly heavy, clots etc. The only thing that was slightly different was that it was a few days early (3 or 4 I think) and it stopped abruptly after about 3-4 days, whereas my normal period usually became gradually lighter and would last about 7 days in total.

Also meant to add that I didn't test until 3 days after my period would have been due (I had a funny feeling that it wasn't just my period). The resulting test was very faint - if I'd tested when I started bleeding I think it would have looked negative. So maybe leave it at least a week before testing.

Thank you so much for your replies, made me feel much better. We're currently on holiday so no access to pregnancy tests or anything, possibly a good thing! So will see what's happening when we get home on Friday
