Easy@Home Ovulation Test Results

Hi all, I'm new here and hoping for some advice. We've been TTC for nearly two years now and I'll be 38 this year so starting to stress and panic a little as the clock is ticking. We have no children so this would be the first. I have been doing the easy@home ovulation test and the levels seem to be getting lower instead of higher despite being in my fertile window according to my menstruation calendar. Has anyone else had this and should I be worried?
I have been to the doctors and gynaecologists for years and they keep telling me all my test results are great and I have more than average egg count but worried now given these results.

Ignore the app's prediction of your fertile window!

You might be a rapid surger- so it could say 0.1 today and 1.3 or something tomorrow

FakeMiddleton · 16/04/2024 13:20

Also, those tests don't look totally dry to me. How long are you waiting from dipping in urine to recording in the app? I do 7 mins

Peonies12 · 16/04/2024 13:23

Ignore what any app predict, was always way off for me. Just test daily after your period, and increase to twice daily once they start to get darker. I never got a “peak” on the app but tests got darker then lighter, and I’ve luckily had two pregnancies. I tended to get one very dark test with only slight increase before.

mrstaylor9 · 16/04/2024 14:45

Thank you! I may have not waited long enough before taking the picture. Pretty sure I waited less than 5mins 🤦‍♀️ will continue to test and see how it goes!

Definitely wait a solid 10 minutes before taking a picture, they do take a while to darken down in my experience. LH levels fluctuate constantly so slight variations in your 'low' levels don't really matter - once they start to properly rise on approach to ovulation, your lines should become significantly darker (to the point where it will be obvious without reference to an app). As someone upthread said, it can happen quite quickly - I usually go from results like yours to a clear positive (test line as dark as control) within 24 hours, and then back to obviously negative within 24 hours of a positive.

jellyfish2 · 16/04/2024 18:34

I agree with the others, you can still see the dye in the background so leave them a few minutes longer. I wait at least 5. How many days are your cycles? I don't ovulate until day 20 as my cycles are around 33 days.

ThelastRolo20 · 16/04/2024 18:42

@mrstaylor9 I have a rapid peak and decline in a day, and basically nothing until then 🙂

mrstaylor9 · 16/04/2024 19:18

I took a second test today and waited 10mins and it was the same result 0.01. I will try again tomorrow and leave for longer. My cycles are usually 28 to 29 days. So according to my calendar I should ovulate on Thursday which is why I was expecting the levels to go up and not to near 0. It's just so frustrating. Hopefully tomorrow will be a more promising result.

When in your suggested fertile window you should try testing twice a day as that makes it more likely to catch the surge. For some it is a case of surge in the evening and reducing levels by morning. Some recommendations are also to use second urine of the day rather than first but I don't know for sure that actually helps. If you have plenty tests then you are best to start testing the morning after AF ends and then twice daily during your predicted fertile window.

polkadotpixie · 17/04/2024 06:31

You may have a shorter than average luteal phase and not ovulate until CD17 or 18 or you may just have a quick LH surge

I have a 9/10 day luteal phase and a quick surge and I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant so don't worry too much if that's the case for you too

J3llycat · 17/04/2024 06:36

Hey - are you using first morning urine? Make sure you are each time as it dilutes through the day, and agree waiting 10 mins for it to dry as others have suggested as they take a while x

polkadotpixie · 17/04/2024 06:42

You shouldn't use FMU for ovulation tests actually, LH raises throughout the day so you should test around lunchtime and evening

The only ovulation tests that require FMU are the digital Clearblue ones

pepperminticecream · 17/04/2024 07:08

Agree with a lot of the PP. Don't rely on your app. My app says I was meant to ovulate last week and so I stopped testing and then decided to test again and it turns out I actually ovulated today! If I had gone off the app, I would have missed my window.

You want to test in the afternoon and then again at night. And I would probably do a clearblue digital ovulation test too. The one that gives you four fertile days and a static smile face for the most fertile day.

Is this your first time testing ovulation? If so, you might have been missing ovulation this whole time by just using your app.

Also, if you have sex at least every other day, you will be hitting your fertile window so that might be an option if you haven't done that yet?

Good luck!!

mrstaylor9 · 19/04/2024 12:32

Thank you all for the advice! I really appreciate it!
I have followed all your recommendations and there is now an upward trend. So fingers crossed it will finally work out this time!

Oh it's looking good! Hopefully it'll be darker later and it's likely you'll ovulate tomorrow 😊

FakeMiddleton · 19/04/2024 14:22

Agree! I'd start the shagging now tbh

Hey just wanted to ask regarding when to read the test? The instruction leaflet says to read the test at 5 minutes but a few of you have said to read at ten minutes but would they not give a false positive or high result? I’m so confused now because it’s my first month using the easy at home strips and I have been reading the results at 5 mins. My result at 5 mins today was 0.49 and at 7 mins it was 0.74 so I’m not sure which to rely on x

KittyFantastica · 30/06/2024 19:53

Hiya, just wanted to say I'm one of those who have a SUPER fast surge and it's always between 10:00 and 10:40. I test 3 times a day when ovulation testing to be sure I've caught it. You might want to try testing in the morning, afternoon and evening to see if your levels seem higher at certain points in the day :). I do mine 8am (where I start to see a slight rise), 10:20 (where I usually see the peak) and 16:00, just in case (and it's usually all the way back down.

Tater05 · 30/06/2024 22:48

Gonna jump on this just because any info is helpful! This has been my first month using ovulation tests and for about a week I thought they just weren't working on me or I was doing it wrong. Turns out I'm one of those with a very sudden peak, and I was ovulating a few days later than the app originally predicted.

I just thought it was mad how sudden my peak is on the chart! 2 days before my peak I hadn't even got to 0.1. I left the tests for about 8 minutes before taking these pics.

So for anyone else it might just be catching it on the right day or even the right hour, it can be so sudden.
