Low AMH and low sperm motility

Hi, looking for people to share any experiences they’ve had with fertility issues. I am 36 and have an AMH of 4.9. My partner has low sperm motility. Has anyone else been in a similar position and managed to conceive? I had an appointment with a consultant and he immediately started talking about doner eggs as my AMH is too low for IVF. Now waiting for a referral to fertility. Feeling so upset and anxious.

@Olivepearl sorry to hear about your Dr's response. But please don't let AMH deter you. I haven't got a pregnancy success story to share as we're going through FETs following ECs but it is possible with low AMH to have a go at TTC through IVF.

My AMH was 4.3 pmol when starting 3 x ECs to embryo bank last year and out of 14 eggs collected over the 3 cycles we ended up with 8 embryos frozen. We haven't done PGTA so don't know how many, if any, are normal (I'm 38 so that's a factor when older than 35) but its a good a chance as any at TTC.

So I would suggest changing Drs. Create tend to specialise in women with low AMH, some below 1 pmol, which is the clinic I'm with, may be worth exploring for a second opinion.

Good luck!

Hello, just wanted to say also that my AMH is low (5 I think) which was a shock as I'm only 28. However my partner and I froze embryos for the future once we became aware of the issue, in case it turns out we can't conceive naturally - I got 4 eggs (all 4 became suitable embryos and were frozen) so IVF is definitely possible with low AMH. I suppose the male infertility factor may complicate it but I wouldn't jump straight to donor eggs without maybe getting a second opinion if possible?

Hope it goes well for you

Hi. My AMH was 4.7 plus high FSH of 19 basically peri menopause. Been told I can’t get pregnant naturally. I had IVF and they coudnt collect any eggs as my only one follicle was empty. Started looking at my options with doner eggs 😫 I still had some crisis left I my fertility clinic and I thought ok let’s try IUI anyway as I have nothing to loose anyway. They give me 1% chances. Well I’m 5 weeks pregnant now 🥰 I know it’s very long shot but so far everything going well 🙏🏻 just a little hope for you that miracles can happen

@Ks2023 Congratulations! That’s wonderful!

@Sunflower360 wishing you luck in your journey- I hope it’s a success

Thank you all for your responses, they have really helped me feel a little more hopeful. I had the blood tests done in October and the hospital kept cancelling my appointment so I only got the results in march and the consultant said he wasn’t going to do any other tests, just a referral to fertility, so AMH is all I have to go on at the moment. I’ve not heard anything since then- desperate for an appointment so I can get more answers. It can all feel very hopeless reading google

Hi @Olivepearl

I am 29 and have an AMH of around 4. I am staring ICSI in December and was told confidently by my consultant that a low AMH isnt an issue and that they will combat this with higher dose meds. My partner also has some issues with sperm but that is why we are going with ICSI.

The consultant explained it like a "bank".. that when you have a lower AMH your body is less reluctant to release eggs so the meds will force my body to do this. It sounds like incorrect advice. I wouldn't let this worry you too much and definitely discuss this further with a fertility clinic.

I hope this helps <3
