Chemical pregnancy or hope for 🌈

Hi everyone,
Relatively new poster here but been a silent observer for much longer.
TTC baby number 2. Cycle one last month we had an early miscarriage at 5 weeks. I am now 5 weeks again. Everything was looking positive but yesterday’s test was slightly lighter - see attached. I then started having brown spotting which is v minimal and only noticeable when wiping.
I tested again and the line was much lighter but I’ve discounted as there was minimal hold and it wasn’t FMU.
Called the doctor who basically isn’t interested until proper bleeding starts.
Any advice?
Is this an inevitable loss or should I hold out hope?

Hi OP, so sorry to hear about your loss.

I think the best thing you can do is stay positive for this one. Some bleeding can be totally normal in early pregnancy, it’s not always a negative sign, and it can also be totally normal for tests to get darker/lighter. So many things can affect your urine, how much water you’ve had, what time of day it is, how long since last wee… and don’t forget that pregnancy tests are not built to measure progression. They literally only have 2 results- positive and negative. You have a positive test there so congratulations and good luck! X

Hi,

I would stay hopeful for now. A positive test is still positive. ♥️ I had brown spotting with 2 out of my 4 pregnancies and they each resulted in a healthy baby.

Both of my sons are rainbow babies. I had heavy bleeding with my miscarriages and painful cramps. However, when I had brown spotting when pregnant with both sons, it turned out fine.

I wish you all the best for your pregnancy and I hope your little one is born happy and healthy xx

@Mrsttcno1 @ImDone89 thank you both for your positive messages. Really trying to keep a positive head but equally want to prepare myself if it is my second loss in as many months.

The dr berated me for trying ‘too soon’ and said that could be the reason if it ends in miscarriage. I explained I’d had no guidance not to try again if not ready and that lots of people fall immediately after an early loss. But his words have almost made me feel like it’s ’my fault’ 😔 xx

Oh op @LovingMamaWifeTeacher im sorry to hear your dr was unkind and not helpful.

I had an early loss in Feb (at 5 weeks too). I didn’t contact GP to EPAU as I’d heard from others that they can’t do anything.

I started trying again the following cycle just like many, many women do. It is in no way your fault should the worst happen. However, as others have said, remain positive 🌟

I too had brown spotting throughout a previous pregnancy x

Thank you so much for your kind message and reassurance @ToeBeans24

I have taken another test this afternoon which is a squinter at best so I think I’ve accepted the inevitable now. With my last loss, I started bleeding just as the fading started so I’m just hoping the bleed comes and they don’t need to do anything. Bad cramps so perhaps it’s on its way xx

I’m so sorry if it is happening again @LovingMamaWifeTeacher. I was blissfully unaware of mine until the spotting started. My line was quite faint (didn’t get my bfp until 14dpo and was a squinter) but it got stronger as did the symptoms so I had no idea.

Had spotting one day so did a digital and I’ll never forget seeing it come back as “not pregnant”.

Always here if you want or need to chat. Look after yourself and please PLEASE remember this isn’t your fault at all. Many people try immediately, and many people successfully conceive the month after a chemical. X
