Getting pregnancy after an ectopic pregnancy (tube removal)

Hi,
I really hope someone can relate to what I'm going through right now.
I'm 28, and in December 2023, my husband and I started ttc.
I have irregular periods but when I didn't have a period throughout January, I decided to test and in early Feb, it was confirmed I was pregnant (yay!)

Unfortunately, we found out on 16th Feb that the pregnancy was ectopic and I got it and my tube surgically removed on the 22nd Feb.

My husband and I havent been actively trying but we started having unprotected sex early March.

Its now early April and I still haven't had my period. I suspected I ovulated around the 17th as its when my cm was stretchy. I've been researching and people have said my period may not come for 10 weeks!
I dont have any symptoms really. I had sore boobs for about 2 days a week ago but I suspect that was hormone related.

Is it possible to get pregnant after an ectopic even if you haven't had your period yet?

Does anyone have any stories to reassure that I'll be okay? I'm terrified its going to happen again.

My mum had an eptopic pregnancy in the 1970s. The doctors told her she wouldn’t get pregnant again. Then she had me!

Hiya,

I had 2 ectopics and my tube removed following the second one. I’ve since had 2 pregnancies in the right place (one was a miscarriage) and the other resulted in my now 1 year old!

I got pregnant quickly both times after having my tube removed (and my son came from the opposite ovary to my remaining tube). My first pregnancy just happened (wasn’t on BC but wasn’t trying) I think it was roughly 9 months of being off BC before that happened , which was my first ectopic. After 6 months off we tried again and I think it was about 4-5 months to second pregnancy (also ectopic). After having my tube removed my periods returned after about 6 weeks and I got pregnant on second try. After having my miscarriage we got pregnant first try with my son (the month after D&C).

After my first ectopic my periods didn’t return for a few months and I had some weird symptoms whilst my body was getting back to normal, I could’ve easily interpreted those symptoms as being pregnant (hadn’t been trying so knew I wasn’t) . I guess the only way to know is to test.

there’s a high chance you’ll get your baby eventually- it might take a little bit longer though. That’s what I was told by a fertility dr, that if you get pregnant once the chances are you’ll be able to again. You do have an increased chance of another ectopic but most people don’t have a second. And even if you do (like me!) it is still possible to have one in the right place. Try not to worry too much about it, even though it’s easy to spiral with it. I know a number of people who have had 1+ ectopics and now have children and I don’t know anyone who has had an ectopic and never got children (although whilst unlikely, unfortunately that is the experience for a small number of people).
