21 Day Blood Results - Help!

So after I had my test, I didn't hear anything back from my GP but was told this was because it was all "normal" - no follow up or offer of one. Anyway, I asked for a copy of the tests because I wanted to see for myself where my progesterone levels were at.

But kinda wish I hadn't! I'm no expert but confused at the results as don't see mention of progesterone or anything else to do with fertility, can someone who has had this test shed any light?! I Googled all of these terms but as far as I can, none are related to fertility? Help!

Just to add... I'm nearly 39 so was a bit disappointed with response, I thought if you were older and had been trying more than 6 months, they'd do more? GP said they'd only do more tests once we hit the one year mark :( At about 10 cycles now.

I just tried the Hertility online fertility test.

I had a bunch of blood tests and scan via the GP about a year ago, but didn’t find it super helpful tbh as they’re only looking for things that are totally wrong, rather than spotting things that might be sub-optimal. I can’t recommend Hertility yet as I only did the sample today so won’t get results back until next week, but someone else on here suggested it and it seems worth it to get a proper snap shot of hormones related to fertility. I did some tests privately last summer via a clinic but this online option is much cheaper and I want to see what’s changed in 7 months since my levels were last checked.

Have you asked the GP to refer your partner for sperm analysis too?

worldwidetravel2017 · 31/03/2024 21:34

Hertility are ace - highly recommend

Gp wise - looks like he did a full blood count - thats different.

Ask for a progsterone test / day 21 test

Or pay 30 gbp to randox health privately - i rate them - for a female hormones test - progesterone etc

Id do hertility health
And randox health if i was u

HH are ace
But they dont do progsterone - hence randox health 4 that

Hh do amh which is important

Nhs gp can also do prolactin..

Also u can ask nhs gp to refer you to gynae for transvaginal to ' check structural ' // check your ovaries / check for fibroids

worldwidetravel2017 · 31/03/2024 21:36

The book it starts with an egg
Is very good

You want your vit d checked too :)

Thank you @worldwidetravel2017 you've given me a bit of confidence, I'm going to phone up and insist on a follow up as def not a 21 day blood test (which they said they'd do). Will also look into private options, which I was actually Googling before I posted :) Don't think vit D should be an issue, been taking it every day in a supplement along with other things. Been trying everything!

@AnnieStar12 they said they'd do nothing more until it's been a year (including any testing on my husband). I'm assuming because I already have a child, they were very nonchalant and basically just said sometimes it can just take time 🙄 Didn't seem worried about my age but it's something I focus on!

Superdrug offer reasonably priced private testing for your husband.

His gp would do some tests re him if he asked

worldwidetravel2017 · 01/04/2024 08:06
  • are your cycles regular ?
  • have u done bbt testing ?
worldwidetravel2017 · 01/04/2024 08:06

My gp also tested my cortisol
Its being retested in april

Wanderdust · 01/04/2024 09:06

That's great your GP is so on it! Every area is very different.

Yeah, been doing all the usual stuff, using OPKs, taking temps, taking vits etc so thought it might be time to get some help. TBH, the 21 day test seemed a bit redundant as I definitely ovulate and know my own body very well as been tracking for so long (with my first child and now TTC #2). But the bloods was the only thing offered to me and I was curious to see my levels so just did it!

But thank you for all your advice on private testing, you've made me think it might be a better option than my useless doc! I'm so sorry for your loss BTW, did you get any more answers after your tests?

Forgot to add, yes, cycles regular but have short luteal phase (although only took about 5 months to conceive DS, just assumed it would be same again but no!).

Thank you.
They said on the latest scan - polycystic ovaries..
So even higher chance of miscarriage..

But theres many types of pcos - the type i may have - doesnt have much reduced fertility.

Last year we concieved 2nd cycle tryin
But as mentioned - was then early miscarriage

Ive had other stuff go on - like colon / bowel polyps
That have just been removed again

We are tryin again this cycle..
