Risk of Iron Transfusion during conception

We are TCC for child number 2 (last 2 months). DW has been diagnosed with a mild iron deficiency causing heart rhythm issues, and had to have an iron transfusion. We had TTC this month with an LH surge over the weekend (transfusion done 4 days after TTC). Unfortunately the transfusion date came up quickly, and we had to take it or face waiting a few more weeks.

Would this be a risk to the potential fetus? (which I appreciate would really just be a blastocyst at present).

As I understand it, IF we have conceived this month, it would just be a blastocyst at present. I know Ferinject (iron infusion) is contraindicated in the first trimester (tests done on mice show a risk of skeletal abnormalities). That being said from what I can read a blastocyst is relatively hardy for the first 10-14 days.

I'd advise talking to a midwife regarding this. My opinion, is that your wife should take the infusion due to her heart issues she's having.

Thank you. She actually already had a the infusion! but I'm just struggling to find any info on the risks of this if we happened to be in the early stages of conception.
