Knowledge needed: Ovulated CD23 but average cycle is 30 days

Hello all 🤗 This is my first Mumsnet post despite being a long term watcher. I am looking to see if anyone else has experienced late ovulation, but has an 'average' cycle length that is considered normal.

For context, this is only my first month of tracking ovulation (LH tests and BBT), but the two months prior to this I didn't manage to conceive despite dtd on CD's 12-18. In my current cycle, I had a clear LH rise until peak on CD 23, and then LH decreased once again. My BBT also increased and dropped as you would expect in line with these ovulation dates. I feel like there is something wrong with me if I'm ovulating on CD 23 but my average cycle last 30 days total. All I can find is stories of people with PCOS or long cycles who ovulate this 'late' which is of course not late for them. just in line with their cycle length.

For info:
I am 26, healthy weight, not on any medication and not diagnosed with any conditions known to directly affect fertility such as PCOS or hypothyroidism. I have been taking pre-conception/prenatal supplements for 6 months. I have never had a pregnancy before.

Any stories of similar or advice would be amazing. I know I am very early in my journey compared to others, so I am wishing everyone the best and asking for this advice with humility 💛

Hi there, just my opinion but I would monitor this for another month or two, preferably using a digital ovulation kit like Clearblue if you can. If you always ovulate around day 23 and then get AF around day 30 I would say that your luteal phase is a little too short in terms of preparation of your uterus for implantation. If this is the case regularly then probably worth a chat with doctor to see what can be done to help. Good luck

Thank you for your insight! I realised I made a mistake and CD 24 is actually when I ovulated, making the luteal phase even shorter. I have a theory about what is happening:

Last month, AF was late by 5 days and was also abnormal for me in how it unfolded. One day there was just a singular spot of blood, nothing the next, nothing the next, some pink in discharge the next, then nothing (all while AF is late). Then, brown discharge for two days followed by a full bleed for 3 days as normal. I am wondering if the days prior to my normal 5 day AF was actually implantation bleeding from an attempt by the egg to implant but due to my luteal phase being too short, it failed.

This month I have a feeling I'm following a similar trajectory. Today is CD 34, no AF yet. Did a pregnancy test this morning which was a BFN. On CD 32 I had a singular drop of blood in my knickers, and on CD 33 nothing.

I can't say that I am one of those people that is 100% regular, but in the last year I have definitely been on a 30 day cycle give or take a day on a couple of occasions. This too is why I think my theory might have legs.
