Bleeding 1dpo BFP?

chsbaby87 · 13/03/2024 14:50

Hi! I am TTC my second baby, and this is our first month trying. My cycle is always pretty regular, only varying by one or two days, and I have never had ovulation bleeding before. We BD on Saturday, and according to OPK, LH peak was midday Monday, so ovulation probably happened late that evening or on Tuesday. I was spotting some when I woke up Tuesday morning, but not enough to need a tampon or anything. It stopped for the rest of the day, then today (Wednesday) I am spotting a little again. Still not enough to need a tampon-- mostly light pink. Seems like if it was ovulation spotting it wouldn't still be happening at this point....

Am I randomly just unlucky and starting my period super early this month or something?!

This is just very weird since my cycle is usually very predictable, and the first month we are TTC it ends up doing something funky like this. Maybe I'm just being overly hopeful, but I want to believe that it's a sign of something positive!

Does anyone have any positive stories of starting spotting immediately at ovulation but still getting a BFP?

(I bled through the entire first trimester of my first pregnancy if that makes a difference...but that time it didn't start until implantation- so this is way earlier).

@chsbaby87 this is happening to me too this month!!

Looks like I ovulated on CD17 (possibly CD16) which was Monday. I'm 2DPO today and I've had some light pink bleeding?! It's lucky that I've found you 😂

I am a luteal spotter but light spotting usually starts about 7 days before AF and AF is still 12/13 days away for me. Very confusing isn't it?!

chsbaby87 · 13/03/2024 17:08

Yes!! As is the process of trying to get pregnant wasn’t already stressful enough, our bodies have to make it even more complicated and confusing for us 😂😩

Could it be ovulation spotting ? I’ve had that on the odd cycle

YorkshirePeridot · 13/03/2024 17:26

Going to hop in here just to see if any good advice shows up! I'm 2dpo and have been bleeding for the last 48 hours, it's a v light flow but is bright red so I'm a little worried as I thought ovulation spotting would be pinker.

Right?! Another month another onslaught of confusing but 'slightly different' symptoms... 😂

I had wondered this! I don't think I've had it before which is why it's confusing. But at this point I don't see what else it could be.

I'm glad there are a few of us! Mine has been super light pink so far and a very sort of creamy CM texture. So odd.

Hopefully a slew of women will pop in here and be like 'omg yes this happened to me and I got my BFP!!' 😂😂

ToeBeans24 · 13/03/2024 19:04

@purplecolouroffunk i don’t get it often either. In fact only time I did have it was when I had the copper coil! But it was pink / brown. Hoping for you all it’s a positive sign 🤞🏻 x

purplecolouroffunk · 14/03/2024 10:08

@chsbaby87 and @YorkshirePeridot how are you both doing today?

I woke up to much more red coloured blood. Definitely not AF quantity and quite mixed with CM but I don’t think I can consider this spotting anymore 😔@YorkshirePeridot sounds more like what you’ve been experiencing!

It’s so unusual for me for it to be this red this early. AF isn’t for 11 days!!

I’m so confused!! Does this just mean I’m ALREADY automatically out now at 3/4DPO?! Seems ridiculous don’t understand how that can be right.

thejollytrolleydolly · 14/03/2024 15:20

Hello all!

So weird that I have found this thread as this month on the morning of 3dpo when I wiped there was a big blob of jelly like cm that was brown tinged like I was spotting but nothing of the sort after that! I've never had anything like that before (I don't think) I was like wooh implantation spotting! and then I remembered I was only 3dpo 😂 fingers crossed it's a lucky sign for us all ✨

YorkshirePeridot · 14/03/2024 16:57

@purplecolouroffunk Mine has turned pinkish today and seems to be stopping, fortunately. I had a full two days of bright red, however given that it was such a small amount (couple of drops on a liner each day, mostly visible when wiping) I'm going to assume that my uterus lining hasn't actually broken down much.

From what I've read it's due to oestrogen dropping after ovulation, but as long as progesterone is doing it's job we're hopefully fine 🤞

Interesting!! Are you certain about when you ovulated? Bodies are so freaky 😂

Glad to hear it seems to be stopping! Mine is still quite red but only to wipe and is very mixed with CM so almost like watery consistency.

I’m really hoping it stops but usually I spot lightly from 7dpo all the way til AF so I’m worried that’s what will happen this month 😢 I don’t think I can handle another 10 days before AF even starts!

The estrogen thing makes sense. My progesterone is on the lower side of normal but my GP doesn’t seem to be too worried about it.

thejollytrolleydolly · 14/03/2024 20:58

@purplecolouroffunk I'm relatively sure! I go off Cm and I had ewcm for 5 days until my suspected ovulation day and then it stopped that day. The brown discharge was 3 days later. Unless the cm was fooling me into thinking I ovulated earlier 🤷🏽‍♀️ who bloody knows 😂

purplecolouroffunk · 18/03/2024 15:15

@chsbaby87, @YorkshirePeridot, @thejollytrolleydolly how are you all getting on??

I'm on 7dpo and I'm still spotting away, ever since 2dpo. Different combinations of pink and light red each day. Sometimes fairly wet and mixed with CM, sometimes more dry, but always present. It's really getting me down :(

It seems like I start spotting on the same cycle day each month, regardless of when ovulation is. So last month I ov'd on CD14 and spotting started CD19. This month I ov'd on CD17 and spotting started on CD19. Anyone else get that pattern?

thejollytrolleydolly · 18/03/2024 15:41

@purplecolouroffunk hello! I only had that one day of spotting this month then it stopped! I have had months where I spot consistently from around 5 days before my period is due. I dont know what was different this month and why I had that one bit of spotting so early on. I'm roughly 9/10dpo today and just waiting for af or a positive test.

Have you had your progesterone levels checked? Sometimes consistent spotting is a sign that your progesterone levels are dropping too early x

purplecolouroffunk · 18/03/2024 15:45

@thejollytrolleydolly glad to hear you just had the one day! Fingers crossed for you for a BFP. Keep us updated!

I've had my progesterone tested and last month is was at 21 nmol/l which my GP says still shows I've ovulated but it's still on the lower side of normal.

I actually had it tested again today and my GP said if it comes back again on the lower side of normal that she'll refer to me the fertility clinic.

YorkshirePeridot · 18/03/2024 15:46

@purplecolouroffunk I had two days of bright red starting on ovulation day and then two days of light pink. Then I got a respite for a few days and it's started again this morning, light pink again. I don't know what to think because last cycle I didn't bleed at all in my luteal phase until AF arrived. I absolutely know how you feel about getting you down 😞

purplecolouroffunk · 18/03/2024 15:50

@YorkshirePeridot oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. It's a horrible feeling. It's like on the one hand, it's really annoying to be bleeding all the time, and on the other hand, I feel like it immediately counts me out. So almost a double-whammy of disappointment.

Everything I've read says it's probably a hormone imbalance - perhaps too much estrogen and too little progesterone. I've read soo many threads now and there are lots of women who have said they were regular luteal spotters and still got BFPs. Even after reading that, it just all feels a bit hopeless, ya know.

Hello! I’m at 7dpo today and still spotting but it had changed a little. It was always just very light pink, then yesterday I had one wipe of bright red on the tissue in the morning, then nothing the rest of the day. Same thing this morning— but seems to have stopped again! It could be AF, but I’m not really due for that for another few days. I guess i just have to wait and see what happens 😭. I wil keep y’all updated! I’ve never had luteal spotting before, and this definitely seems different from my usual period, so I’m hoping it’s a positive sign. Also trying not to get my hopes up yet 😬

OP posts:
purplecolouroffunk · 18/03/2024 16:27

@chsbaby87 that sounds very similar to me! My most red wipes seem to be in the morning or after a BM (cause what even is TMI anymore 😂) but otherwise all pretty pink.

Frustratingly for me this happens every month (tho usually not this close to ovulation), so I can never tell if it's a good sign either way. It could be positive for you though since it's not something you've experienced before! Definitely keep us updated 😊

purplecolouroffunk · 01/04/2024 13:02

Just thought I’d update you all to let you know that I’m pregnant 😊 The same cycle as when we chatted above.

So luteal spotting absolutely doesn’t mean you can’t get pregnant! I even had some pretty red blood at 9/10dpo which I’m now thinking was implantation.

Anyone, just thought I’d post to give any spotters reading this some hope 💜

YorkshirePeridot · 01/04/2024 13:08

Congrats @purplecolouroffunk, lovely news 🎉

No BFP for me this month although AF is a full week late. I have no idea what's going on.
