Please reassure me this is hcg lingering from my recent loss and not a new pregnancy?

We lost our 16 week baby approximately 7 weeks and 3 days ago.
Haven't been trying again due to how traumatic it was but stupidly didn't take steps to prevent either (was only twice)

I only tested as I found myself unexpectedly emotional over minor things and boobs felt different.

I'm assuming it could quite well be left over hcg from the last pregnancy?

Could very well be a new pregnancy. I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my twins at 29 weeks in November. It's so painful so I can understand.

My hcg was gone after two weeks afyer i gave birth to my late twins. My ovulation came back at 6 weeks. I'm not sure if you are happy or not but I wish you all the joy and luck. Its a hard road - death of a baby. Xxx

What you need to do is see if it gets stronger, you shouldn't be testing positive on a digital. And go get scanned. Did they follow up with a scan after your loss?

much love.xxx

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my baby at 16 weeks just over a year ago, I was told to do a test 2 weeks after to check it was all clear. We're y not asked to do this?
Unfortunately for me mine was still positive (and I was still bleeding) and after a scan they found I had retained products causing the positive test.
I would keep testing and if it gets darker then it's probably a new pregnancy.
I hope you get the result you want x

I'm a veteran of many miscarriages, I'd say this is a whole new pregnancy. I'm sorry for your loss, following a pregnancy of any length you can have a spike in fertility. Speak to your local EPU if you can Flowers

Hi all,
Thank you for the comments.
And I'm sorry to each of you for your losses...it's an indescribable pain.

I've had quite a few early losses myself, numerous chemical pregnancy's and a MMC at 9 weeks.
This little guy got to 16 weeks but we had discovered he had a whole host of issues, an 8mm nuchal fold, fluid around his heart and had DS.
We had made the heart breaking decision to medically terminate and on the morning I went into hospital they discovered on the scan that he had mercifully already passed away.
I have never felt such grief and relief at the same time.

So I took the pills to induce labour and the birth was over and complete quite quickly. They checked the placenta passed intact and I was allowed home that day.
I haven't had a scan since so I'm assuming they were confident nothing remained internally?
Also wasn't told to take a PT after it all but then I'm in the pacific islands so we might do it differently here.

So I'm left feeling sceptical that this pregnancy (if it is a new one) will even eventuate to anything.
And terrified that if it does, we will have the same chromosomal issues that we had last time.

I'm 43 next month so my chances of having a 'good' egg are slim.

Oh and I bought a 3 pack of tests so will be testing again in the morning.
This current test was taken mid morning without having 'held on' for more than an hour or so since my previous pee so I'm guessing it does seem to be a fresh pregnancy.
Time will tell

Result!
It was lingering HCG after all. This mornings test is barely visible compared to yesterday's one.
Im getting off this emotional rollercoaster for good now! 😭
