IVF on the NHS? Success stories welcome

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has had a cycle of IVF on the NHS and found it to be successful?

I'm 38, had advanced excision surgery for severe endometriosis 8 months ago and started TTC in October last year. My surgery was succeasfull, though I have only 2 fallopian tube. Both ovaries are fine.

Due to my endo, I've had fertility appointments with the NHS to discuss the possibility of IVF with them post surgery. They've done all their tests on me and everything looks fine. Partners specimen sample was also fine.

My IVF consultation with the NHS is in 10 weeks time and until then I'm TTC naturally. The fertility consultant at the NHS hospital I met with was very honest with me and said if I don't have a successful pregnancy through IVF with the NHS, they'll dump me and tell me to go private. They can only offer one cycle. Most the people I know have gone privately for IVF and this is something my other half and I just wont be able to afford continuous private IVF cycles. We could maybe do one cycle or two at a push but it's going to be very tight if we did decide to go private.

Does anyone have any experience with IVF on the NHS. Anyone had a successful pregnancy going via NHS?

TIA x

Hi,

Me! My son was a result of IVF on the NHS and he's nearly 4 now. We were permitted 1 fresh and 1 frozen transfers. The fresh failed but he was the frozen!

Also, if you move this to the Infertility board you will get a lot more replies and advice.

Good luck!

We only had one go on the NHS and were successful. She’s now 5. I do call her my little miracle.

I wasn't successful, but as the poster above says, I had both a fresh cycle and one with frozen embryos on the NHS, which I wasn't expecting. So you may not be charged for any frozen embryo transfers resulting from your NHS cycle.

Thank you for sharing your story, this is so helpful. I had no idea there was a possibility of having a fresh and a frozen transfer 🤞🏼
