Conceive plus increasing cycle length?

Hi all,
just wondering if anyone has had the same experience with the conceive plus fertility support tablets please? Usually my cycles are 24-26 days but since taking them for 2 months my cycles have increased to 32 days.
I am nearly 38 and thought the length was supposed to decrease with age?!
I've seen some other brands seem to have an affect on periods but haven't seen anything about these ones.
I also think they're giving me false pregnancy symptoms like tingling breasts (that I've only ever experienced when pregnant with my 1st) and nausea.
Once periods were "late" I took a number of tests and all BFN so I don't even think it was chemicals.
I'm going to stop taking them now and see if the next cycle is shorter.

I'm sure it's just anecdotal but I, and many other women, definitlet experienced increased length of cycle taking concieve plus. I also had severe PMS type symptoms when taking pregnacare so on the advice of the GP I'm only going to be taking folic acid whilst waiting on further investigation for infertility.

Thanks for your reply, that's certainly interesting. Sorry you got bad PMS.
I've only got a few left now so will stick to folic too and a pregnancy safe multi vitamin. I guess they affect everyone differently.

Do you mean the ovulation support supplements? If so it might be the Co Q-10 doing it. I've been recommended to take Co Q-10 for ovulation as well.

It might be that the Co Q-10 is regulating your cycle and ensuring your body has enough time in the follicular and luteal phases (as sometimes one or the other of these gets shortened as we get older which effects ovulation/ egg quality).

I think it's probably a good thing! A 32 day cycle is normal and healthy. 24-26 days is on the short side. Talk to your doctors etc. but I would say keep taking them as they are probably doing some good.

Also, you have only been taking them for 2 months. Are you saying you've had 2 cycles which have been 32 days?

The first cycle probably wasn't to do with the supplements as you hadn't been taking them long enough to have an effect.

The second month could have been, but it's only one cycle - could have been a one off - it's hard to say.

It normally takes 4-6 months for supplements to really take effect and to notice a pattern.

@circlesand thank you, this is really useful info.
They are the fertility support ones not ovulation, see pic, so they don't contain the co-q10 unfortunately. I've heard really good things about the Co-q10 though and heard it's recommended in America for people undertaking IVF so was thinking about giving it a go if I don't conceive in the next few months.
Yes, I did think having a longer cycle was advantageous so maybe there's no harm....I conceived #1 on the third month of trying with short cycles, though that was 4 years ago.
I'm thinking about doing one of those hertility test just so I can see the state of play and can go to the doctor if it reaches 6 months of trying though not sure how helpful mine will be!

@Maisie2024 Ah OK, well to be honest those ones are just overpriced vitamins - they're unlikely to be affecting your cycle. I'd recommend just taking folic acid, it's cheaper and all you really need if you have a reasonable diet.

I take Co Q-10 because I'm having IVF... not sure you'd need it if you have no known problems and are TTC naturally... but there's no harm getting a fertility MOT and checking.

I'd imagine your recent longer cycles are just flukes, or that you are noticing the variety more now that you are tracking more carefully. I don't think it will be these vitamins causing it.

i experienced this with pregnacare so I stopped taking it, and just took folic acid alone. it is better to get your nutrients from food. Cycles of 24-26 days could mean your luteal phase isn't long enough, depending on when you ovulate? I.e,. your period is coming too soon for implantation to fully work.

Maisie2024 · 05/03/2024 11:14

@circlesand ha yes I don't think they contain anything special.
Good luck with the IVF, I hope it is successful for you 💐

@Rosesanddaisies1 yes I heard that about pregnacare so steered clear. Sorry it had an affect on you.
Yes, I did worry about the shorter cycles with #1 as in the lead up to conception it was always 25 days but all was fine.
I do track ovulation with the clear blue digital and it seems to happen early for me around day 9/10.
It's strange when you start TTC and look into the intrinsics of the body!
