Recurrent miscarriage clinic - nhs or private??

I have been referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic after 5 chemical pregnancies, and have been told the wait list is up to 30+ weeks! And not sure I can wait that long, so looking into going private. Has anyone had any experience with this clinic and can tell me what they do and whether it’ll be worth going private?

thanks!

Tommys baby charity
Recurrent miscarriage clinic is supposed to be very good

Sorry for your losses

We have had 1 miscarriage ( so far )

Have you had all the basic nhs tests etc ?

Transvaginal scan
Pelvic scan

Blood tests for -

  • feretin
  • b12
  • vit d
  • full blood count
  • prolactin
  • pco
  • androgen
  • progsterone
Etc ?

Also - ever usee hertility health ? - for 150 gbp they check many vital things including amh

Have you had your estrogen checked ? Ever seen an endocrinologist ?

Has your partner had testing ?

Is your bmi normal ? - if its higher - have u taken 5mg folic acid ?

Also - has your thyroid been tested ?

My friend had 5 private ivf - miscarriage on 3rd go .

I suggested she get basic tests -

Her prolactin was very high
And her feretin very low

I am (currently) a tiny bit pregnant, after three miscarriages. I paid to go private for all the tests and one of them showed something that hopefully is now being addressed so that this one sticks around.

I’m still waiting for my NHS appointment which was made in the summer…

It felt like a huge amount of money but I’d still be totally oblivious to any issues if I hadn’t paid.

We didnt try and concieve until i i had fixed my feretin , b12 and vit d..

We concieved very quickly - 2nd cycle trying

But sadly had an early miscarriage

Now i have an urgent referal 4
Endocrinology

I might be estrogen dominant..

Estrogen dominant = low progsterone etc

https://hertilityhealth.com/

Ive used these guys twice

(Privately )

And highly recommend re hormones and fertility

( they dont offer progsterone but randox health do for 30 gbp )

They also dont offer estrogen but if you have signs of likeky high estrogen - like miscarriage - you can ask NHS 4 urgent referal to endocrinology

Also cortisol is worth testing

It's worth noting you can get referred to any NHS trust in the country. I got referred to Professor Quenby in Coventry and the wait was 10 weeks. So I'd advise seeing how long her wait is or ringing round other trusts and seeing if you can be referred to them instead.

Did all the basic tests through my GP (they can do a lot without the recurrent miscarriage clinic including blood clotting etc - if I remember rightly only the scans, kyrotyping, immunity testing and HyCosy wasn’t included) and then went private for the rest. I did find going private meant I was allowed access to more treatments then I would have been through the NHS (for example, I was allowed blood thinners and steroids which I wouldn’t have been through the NHS apparently). Currently 17 weeks after 4 losses

Can I ask which clinic you went with?
