Pregnancy after surgical management of ectopic - pain/experiences?

Hello,

I recently had surgical management for an ectopic, and lost one tube. My period is now late (only by a couple of days), and I understand things may be different for a few months after surgery, but I am getting similar pain to when I had the ectopic before (mild cramps/pulling sensation on one side). No positive pregnancy test, but this is quite a distinctive pain in how it is located that I don't remember having before the ectopic. For anyone who has been pregnant after an ectopic, did you have the similar pain again, and was it another ectopic? Any experiences are very welcome. Thank you.

Hi, after my surgical tube removal, my periods went haywire for a while, also I had like a dull ache, very similar to the achiness that I had when I was pregnant with my ectopic baby, whenever I had/just before I had a period. That's still ongoing tbh (the one sided achiness with a period) BUT it's got much less & it's now maybe every 4th period or something, & just a twinge like a little reminder.

I'm sure that they (consultant) told me that this pain is normal after ectopic.

My daughter (conceived after ectopic) is now 7, by the way, so I hope this post helps.

Hugs to youFlowers

Yes I had two ruptured ectopics and lost both tubes - the first couple of periods and ovulation too actually were more painful than usual around the area where my tubes used to be - most likely from still healing, internal stitches settling down etc

I also think I felt a lot more after my ectopics because I was a lot more in tune with my body and noticing these feelings more than I did before x

@Anon8823 Are you ok?Flowers

@QuestionQ thats so kind of you to ask. I am, yes - my period has come and gone with less fanfare than I was expecting. I had read people say their first one afterwards was particularly painful and heavy but I got off lightly and now with the first period done, it's a (minor) worry dealt with. Definitely twinges and pain that was different to periods before so perhaps this is like you going to be a pattern going forward. Hearing positive stories of pregnancy after ectopic is so helpful so thanks so much for sharing that.

I'm glad you are ok Anon8823 & you are welcome. I don't remember my first period being especially heavy but yes, I remember walking around rubbing that side of my abdomen every month. It took some getting used to. I was pregnant less than 2 years after my ectopic, & I wasn't having much sex in that timeGrin
