Thyroid results -early miscarriage explanation??

Hi so I have had two chemical pregnancy’s in the past 9 months. I thought while we are still trying to undergo hormone tests which were normal and a thyroid test. My thyroid levels were normal and my Anti-TPO levels were normal.
However my Anti-Tg levels were high at 159 when they should’ve been 115 or less. I have tried to some research on just anti-tg and conceiving but I literally can’t find anything for just high anti-tg anything I can find includes both antibodies or all aspects of the thyroid. Is this something that can affect pregnancy on its own or has anyone else had this? I can’t find anything on how to lower it either.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Don’t know if this helps, but I have hypothyroidism and my antibodies are constantly through the roof. I’m currently pregnant, endocrinologist doesn’t care about antibodies and only looks at TSH which should be under 2 in pregnancy (otherwise under 4).

@Sunflower360 No, I got pregnant twice very quickly, and I’m 40. First ended in a miscarriage but this had nothing to do with my thyroid, it was confirmed as a chromosomal defect.

@Cinai what were your thyroid levels?

Have any of you had the NK cell test and know if it’s worth it or anything come of it ?

@Sunflower360 TSH between 1.2 - 1.8, T3 and T4 in range (don’t remember exactly) and antibodies 180 or so, definitely out of range.

@Lemonbell I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I found out I was having a second MMC the day after you posted. It’s heartbreaking. I found this thread because I have thyroid antiglobulin antibodies and I am trying to arm myself with knowledge so I know what to do next. I hope you are ok and I’m here if you need anyone to talk to. x

I had three miscarriages trying to conceive my second child, I had all the tests and the only thing that was slightly off were my thyroid results. However, my consultant didn't think it was anything to be concerned about. In the end I was put on progesterone and blood thinners (as a it can't do any harm to try) and went on to have a second child. It is only a few years down the line where I have been diagnosed with Graves' disease / overactive thyroid. The thyroid is very complicated and various autoimmune conditions are connected. I think following a healthy thyroid diet is definitely something to look into. Good luck OP.

Hey just want to comment and give you hope! Really sorry about your losses it’s heart wrenching when you see other pregnant mums after 4 MC I’m currently carrying at 18 weeks. Straight after my last miscarriage

they missed my thyroid issue on 3 of those the 4th they couldn’t get my TH under control.

what worked for me this time is 50MG of levothyroxine for my BFP week and then 1 week after they then put me on 100MG I started aspirin as soon as my BFP came nurse didn’t recommend however when I got my 9 week appointment they recommended me to take it which I was already doing. I also took 400MG progesterone day and night

my thyroid currently levels are perfect but constantly are monitored every 4 weeks.

I honesty believe it was the asprin that has pulled me through however I’ll never know!

I also didn’t drastically change anything when I found out I was pregnant I just put it to the back of my mind and I still don’t think it’s real until baby pops out.

For everyone on this thread wondering what’s happened, I am now 20 weeks pregnant with our little girl. Although my thyroid results weren’t checked again past conceiving, the only difference we made this time was I took progesterone from bfp to 12 weeks and folate acid instead of folic acid until week 12 then I just continued onto normal prenatals after the 12 week scan. I had these prescribed privately through nova fertility ( who were great, if anyone is looking)! I had extra scans to check everything was okay but really have no clue whether or not progesterone was a changing factor for us. I didn’t manage to get anyone to follow up on my thyroid results and so I’m not sure if anything changed there but all bloods at my 8 week appointment came back great. Although my thyroid was not checked the drs seemed to be happy with me taking the progesterone until 12 weeks.

Actually sorry I did forget! I also started acupuncture the month I fell pregnant and it moved my ovulation date from an average of cd 28 straight up to cd 16 after only one session. I’m sure this could’ve been a coincidence but I stayed with acupuncture up until about 10 weeks. If not for anything else it really helped relax and I’m terrified of needles so I never thought that would be the case!

@Lemonbell I’m so sorry to bring up this thread, I’m also sorry for your loss. I’m in a very similar position to you, saw heartbeat at 6+3 then a week later no heartbeat- MMC. Did you ever find out a cause? It’s heartbreaking.
I had thyroid cancer, and a total thyroidectomy. I’m wondering if my levothyroxine dose has been wrong after reading this thread

I have an endocrinology review in December, and have been given a ‘miscarriage clinic’ appointment in Nov too.

Our little one went off for further testing too, but I’m not hopeful at finding out a cause if I’m honest.

@Lemonbell im glad you managed to get your 3+ on CB digital, that’s really reassuring!

keeping everything crossed that your pregnancy progresses, and your little bean sticks.

We also found out that I was carrying a boy, my partners ex had a miscarriage and was told it was a boy many years ago so he now thinks he ‘can’t produce boys’ which isn’t helpful.

My blood work has come back and my thyroid function is abnormal, need meds adjusting so this could also have been a cause.
