Hi ladies just wanting to know what’s real and what’s a myth. So firstly are ovulation cramps a real thing if so how do they feel.

bonus question how soon an lh peak is ovulation? If anyone feels open to sharing their charts that would be great

thanks xxx

Some people can feel ovulation, some can’t. I personally can and it’s a really sore stitch kind of feeling, worse when I pee, on whichever side I’m ovulating from. It lasts around a day I find.

I’d typically ovulate around 24 hours after my peak. I don’t have a chart as I’m not ttc anymore but I still feel ovulation so I know when my period is due.

This is my first month ttc and tracking ovulation. I found this article really interesting https://ro.co/fertility/normal-lh-level

I believe I have felt ovulation cramps before I was tracking it but can't be sure. I've deffo never spotted during ovulation.

This is definitely an interesting thread especially as this is all new to me x x

Omg mittelschmerz absolutely is real and it is so so painful. Doesn’t last more than a day for me but gosh it’s painful.

CatchHimDerry · 18/02/2024 09:54

Yes to the pains. For me it’s almost as if everything is swollen / inflamed. Very tender belly. Like PP, worse when going for a wee, like a tugging pain. Lasts a few days for me

It’s also how I knew I was pregnant the first time, long before any tests.

Time to release an egg I have no idea and suspect it varies.

One of my chemicals I had a clear positive 7 days after DTD which I didn’t think would even be possible, so I must have ovulated that day, which was about 3 days after peak!
I was certain of dates, it was the only day we had DTD and I thought we’d be “safe” that day 😂

So yes, bit of a mystery sometimes. Anything is possible

Hello
I actually put something on this forum earlier in the week about mittelschmerz pain and when does ovulation happen ….is it before or after the pain and does this mean that you are more fertile whilst feeling the ovary pain 🤷‍♀️

my take away from all of it is have sex as much as you can over the fertility window AND when you have ovulation pain if you can.

I would like to second @Awaywiththeferries123 this is exactly me

I get mittelschmirtz too and it got worse after my first child. I don’t get it every month though. The LH strip tests can be hit and miss because it’s easy to not catch a peak with those. I think the best indicator of when you are fertile is the egg white cervical mucous. That’s the indication that the egg is soon to be released and that the sperm will be nourished on their journey. The female reproductive system is actually pretty hostile to sperm for most of the cycle. Checking the secretions of the cervix is one of the easiest ways of knowing and it’s free - ideally you can just check toilet paper when you go to the toilet. The book ‘taking charge of your fertility’ is supposed to be good on this.

Greekmyth · 18/02/2024 10:03

I wanted to add that I use the ovulation strips which do get darker but if you went on that alone you might not think I am fertile so I would definitely buy the clear blue digital ovulation tests which are much more actuate. The strips weren’t really showing peak fertility but when I used CB tests it was peak fertility
My peak fertility was a day before mittelschmerz….which I think is how it works.
you peak ovulate and then feel ovary pain (if you do indeed get ovary pain)

I’ve never felt it. I wouldn’t get too obsessed with exact ovulation - just have sex every day or every other day in the 4-5 days leading up to and including ovulation

Anonxo · 18/02/2024 11:18

Thanks everyone for your experiences me personally I’ve never felt it (or maybe I’ve never paid attention) so it was interesting to read another perspective

I have had cycles where I’ve used a trigger shot so I think that by the time you feel the pain it’s almost too late. You really want to be dtd as soon as you get the peak opk to make sure there’s sperm waiting for the egg to release.

I think you’d know if you had it, it’s not something that you’d miss in my opinion. But as I said, some people feel it, some don’t, it has no bearing on fertility.

IsLarryFromSomething · 18/02/2024 14:08

I found it difficult to see the peak using the tests alone but temping really clarified things. I have irregular cycles though so I was having more than one peak per cycle (my longest cycle was 7 months long).
