My partner and I have been TTC for just over a year now. I am 41 and my partner is 50. We have had all the basic tests done on the NHS, which all came back ok. I was basically told my age is the main factor and that we would need to start IVF as soon as possible. That was it. No more advice than that. Feel really lost and not sure what to do now. I am so aware of my age and feel time is running out. We live in Kent and are wondering if we should talk to someone about the next step. We don't get any rounds of IVF on the NHS because I am over 40 and my partner has a child already from a previous relationship. Wondering about DNA sperm fragmentation and follicle testing for me. It is such a minefield and all extremely overwhelming. Just don't know what to do next. Does anyone have any advice at all about any fertility support in Kent? Has anyone else been in a similar situation? We are prepared to go down the IVF route, but were wondering if there was anything else we could do before we commit to that.
Many thanks in advance.

I think IVF would help you get a number of eggs, and allow a clinician to establish which ones are of suitable quality keep in mind that it is similar rate of success if you were to try to conceive naturally.

As you have highlighted the support you get from the NHS in your circumstances is rather limited. I would suggest exploring private options as quickly as possible and also establishing how and why IVF may increase your chances of success.
