Hi everyone

I am getting desperate and considering adding the following to my current pre-natal, 5mg folic acid and 600mg Ubiquinol.

Myo-Inositol Powder

Can anyone recommend a brand or tell me any good news stories about using it? Or even why I shouldn't? I don't have PCOS but I am overweight so if it was to give me a hand to lose weight that would be amazing!

Hi there, I was diagnosed with PCOS a couple of years ago and have used Inofolic Alpha since then. We've had a long old fertility journey and are still going BUT this has reversed my PCOS. In terms of weight loss, this will not help you to lose weight. I've included a link, hope this is helpful Smile

I take inofolic alpha and massively recommend it.

I’ve had conflicting opinions from numerous drs as to whether I have pcos - cysts on my ovaries, hormones normal range but high AMH, I’m slim and no other symptoms (no facial hair, no acne). Before inofolic I ovulated every month but on cd18 and had a 32 day cycle.

Almost as soon as I started taking it though ovulation moved to cd14 and textbook 28 day cycle and I did lose the last bit of baby weight from when I had dc1 and 2, so back to my pre pregnancy weight for the first time in 5 years, and then immediately conceived dc3.

If you don't suffer from insulin resistance pcos , I'd be cautious of adding myo inositol. The reason its beneficial for pcos is due it helping to combat the insulin resistance as its thought to lower blood sugar. If you don't have that, I'd be wary as theres alot of women who took inositol and it messed up their cycles. Just something to be aware of .
If you don't have pcos that's insulin resistance then adding it isn't going to help you lose weight either since your not suffering from pcos . Good luck op. How long have you been trying

Hi all

Thanks for your replies so far. I do have fairly regular cycles, but they are just settling back down I think after loss.

We were trying for 18 months, had investigations, unexplained infertility. Finally fell pregnant, had a great first trimester, two private scans, then had bad news at our 12 week scan and had to have a termination two weeks later. It broke our hearts. It was a chromosome problem not compatible with life, and further complications often see with a chromosome problem.

I did come away hopeful that I knew I could get pregnant so I have been hoping it would happen again really quickly but three cycles on and still nothing. I've since turned 39 and I'm panicking I'm running out of time.

Really want to focus on egg and sperm quality and losing weight.

Hello. Just wondering if this thread was still active. I don’t have PCOS but have also been reading about myo inositol and wondered if you’d had any luck with it as someone who doesn’t have PCOS? Have been ttc for 18 months. 2 early miscarriages. Looking for anything that can help support egg health.

Hello, I used it for years and am now due out first baby in the coming weeks. My pregnancy success is down to a number of contributing factors, not solely this but I do think this contributed. I'd recommend asking your GP for full blood test if you've not had this already (during my journey I learned that GPs don't always do this as standard when women have trouble conceiving).

Wishing you all the best with your journey Smile

Thank you so much for getting back to me. And congratulations on your pregnancy. That really is wonderful news.

I know everyone is different, but I’d love to hear of anything you’d recommend that felt like it made the difference to your success. And I will follow up with my GP regarding more comprehensive tests (currently just had day 3 and 21 done)

Wishing you all the best with the birth and beyond. ☺️

Hello

I didn’t end up taking it as I was nervous about the reply saying it could mess up my cycles. In the end I actually fell pregnant the next cycle and I’m now 28 weeks. So grateful.

It’s hard to say what helped but I would highly recommend a fertility lubricant like pre-seed or conceive plus. It’s also a nice risk/side effect free thing that we were convinced made a difference.

Other things I did

easy at home ovulation tests, BBT and the premom app

600mg ubiquinol for egg quality (can get you Amazon link if you want)

her nine pre/during/post natal supplement

5mg folic acid

I had the dye test to check my tubes were ok before the first pregnancy, anecdotally even if there’s not a blockage it can flush things through and there’s some suggestion women are more likely to pregnant within three months of it. It worked for me - even though the baby had T18.

Thanks so much for getting back to me @MrsScotland that's really heartening to hear.

I've heard about the dye test and that it's relatively inexpensive, so I'll definitely look into that too. It would be great if you could send me a link to the Ubiquinol too. I have been taking 200g but it seems it could well be worth upping it to 600g.

Thanks again and I wish you so much luck with the rest of your pregnancy ❤️

The dye test is done on NHS and there's usually a waiting list, I think I waited 6 months in the end. Though of course you can go privately. Fair warning, it's not pleasant and I found it painful but it will provide you with answers on your tubes.

I did lots, acupuncture, ubiquinol, numerous fertility investigations and even IVF but what did it for me was learning my prolactin levels (it's a hormone, you may know this but I'd never heard of it) were sky high and I needed medication to bring the levels down.

I took the medication for a few months and then fell pregnant naturally. I do think lots of things contributed but the prolactin was a game changer. You can find out your prolactin levels via a blood test - but you need to ensure your GP requests this specifically as I don't think it's done as standard. Of course this is super bespoke to me, but I hope is helpful for your investigations. Smile

Hi

Thsi is what I took - I didn't even get to three months on it before I was pregnant again and it's recommended to stop as soon as you are pregnant.

As above, the dye test can be offered on the NHS but my local fertility clinic also offer it for about £400-500 from memory so worth considering if your GP won't put you forward for it.
