Has anyone else had 2 chemical pregnancies in a row?

I had two chemical pregnancies in a row. One over the weekend and one last month. Has anyone else had the same? And what did you do differently the next time you became pregnant (if anything) which helped? Thanks.

Hi @Rose38, I'm so sorry you've experienced that. I have had two in a row (January and February of 2023). I then fell pregnant in September which stuck around a bit longer, but I sadly had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. I'm clearly not the person to be giving advice to you on these matters but just wanted to say I empathise with you and am sending hugs.

The only thing I did different in Sept was go on holiday to Sardinia and de-stress! If only we could all do that year round 😆

I've seen a couple of doctors and specialists since then and the universal answer I've heard is that chemical pregnancies often happen for no real reason and it's just one of those unfortunate 'things'. I appreciate that doesn't help it feel any less painful. I really hope you get your sticky pregnancy soon.

@CLazz92 thanks so much for the reply. I hope you get your good news soon 🤞

Did you have any blood tests or any scans done? I asked my GP today and she said we can get those done to investigate why this keeps happening.

@Rose38 I am due to have some but it's been such slow going. I was told I'd have to have been trying for a year before the NHS would do anything about it despite having 4 chemical pregnancies and two miscarriages in the space of that year. I got referred on to a gynae specialist after the last miscarriage (at 10 weeks), who then said I'd be better off speaking to a fertility specialist. I'm on the waiting list for that but been told it could be up to 6 months before I get seen.

I can't afford to go private so I guess it's just a matter of waiting it out.

I'm glad your GP seems to be proactive about getting bloods and scans sorted for you. Do you know what they're testing for in particular?

Mentioned thyroid I think in terms of the blood test and any blood disorders? Scan would be to check nothing inside there causing issues..she mentioned doing my cervical cancer screening too but said I'd have to wait 3 months for that. Basically just making sure none of these are causing the issue.

That's interesting. It sounds like they're covering all the bases which is reassuring isn't it. I really hope you get sorted soon 😊

Pickles2023 · 29/01/2024 14:44

I did. 2 in a row, i am now 23 weeks currently.

They wouldn't refer for investigation till 3 in a row. But my GP did all the test bloodwise including thyroid.
Couldn't find any issues there.

But luckily 3rd time lucky (so far)

Nothing different, and tbh i thought it was another chemical as initially the hcg was low also has cramping and migraine (which i usually get before a loss) fingers crossed!

I am on asprin and the doctor has also prescribed iron supplements as i am deficient. (Thats probably because i wasn't taking the pregnacare 😅)

@Pickles2023 Were you taking aspirin the previous times? Or from ttc the third time? I read online quite a lot of women who keep having chemical pregnancies were told to take small dose of aspirin.

I was only told to from 12 week scan until 35 weeks. I have had a LO (also had a few chemicals/miscarriage before her too :( so 5 in total) and she was high risk and it was a bit awful.
So they said it should prevent stillbirth and small baby in my case.
