TTC No 2 - Where to start

Hi, I am 2.5 years post baby and periods returned after 16 months. I have not been on contraception since this point (Jan 23) and very active with husband, periods are regular and I have been tracking ovulation with opks since Jun 23 and taking conception supplements and trying hard each month. Failing to conceive is now really starting to get me down so I am worried something is wrong with me. I had an emergency CS and then hospitalised with sepsis first time could this be the reason as my scar is quite bumpy. I don’t know where to start as fell very easily with our first. What I am asking is what do I do to investigate this further, do I just call the GP and (try) get an appointment or do I need to go to a specialist clinic to get us both checked out, I desperately want a sibling for my little one, I am 34. Any advice appreciate thank you xx

I had an emergency section and currently carrying second.

It's unlikely anything is wrong. But perhaps for peace of mind, you could pay for a fertility MOT just to confirm there are no issues.

NHS can be slow, especially ifyou already have a child

We are in almost an identical situation. I thought there wouldn't be any help on the NHS since we already have a DC, but GP has been really kind. We've both had some tests. I got a scan on the NHS. IVF isn't available if you already have a child, but it doesn't mean that no help/investigations are available.

Thank you, was it blood tests you had and have they just advised you to keep trying x

@FlowerBommb I've had three sets of blood tests, referred to ultra sound scan and DH also had some tests. However after all of that they have just told us to keep trying! They've ruled out a few things though.

Could it be that you're actually trying too hard each month? Therfore putting so much stress/anxiety on your body that it isn't happening. Its mad how stress affects our bodies, especially conception!

I have thought this, I really do try not to obsess over it x

You could try the GP, but you won't get NHS funded IVF. 6 months of tracking is really not long. It's a bit naive to think you'd get pregnant quickly just because you did before. Don't lose focus on what you've already got.

Why is that naive? I thought it was a pretty good indicator that you have healthy fertility, if not very much time has passed. Certainly that was the GP's attitude.
