Hi,
Last month I was convinced I was pregnant. We hadn't really been trying but we also wernt being carfull. I went to a family party a few days before Christmas and after 1 glass of wine spent the night with my head in the toilet and it wasn't the only time that month that that has happened. My hole family thought I was pregnant and I was so exited. Took the test on Christmas eve, it was negative and got my period on Christmas day. I was so upset.

My husband was supprisingly upset too. We decided to start ttc this month. Cut out all alcohol, cafiine and taking all the vitamins. Timed sex around my cycle. Had a negative test yesterday and just had my period. Its just so upsetting. I know I'm being silly and it's only my first try. All of my husbands siblings have children and hes the oldest. we got married last August. Im 30 and hes 33. Just looking for simular experiences. Thankyou

Hi! I am very sorry to hear how you have been feeling, and I know you asked for personal experiences, but I thought this may be of some comfort/help. I personally cannot comment as I am in my mid twenties, but I know plenty of people who have conceived after 30 within the first 0-6 months of trying.

My grandma and grandpa - both 38 (pregnant with my mum)
My mother and father - both 29 (pregnant with my sister), and both 36 (pregnant with me)
Friends #1 - 33 + 35 (pregnant with baby 1)
Friends #2 - 29 + 30 (pregnant with baby 1), 31 + 32 (pregnant with baby 2)
Friends #3 - 42 + 40 (pregnant with baby 1)

I know this isn't technically what you asked for, but I thought maybe this would be hopeful for you. I hope you are okay and sending positivity :)

Oh thankyou so mutch. This was so helpfull. My age has been worrying me a bit so it's nice to see older women have success. Fingers crossed🤞

Sorry you're feeling down. One of the hardest bits of TTC is processing and accepting how it makes you feel, and finding coping mechanisms for when times are tough. The best thing you can do is look after your physical and mental health, to give yourself the best chances to conceive and make sure you can enjoy life in the meantime x

I’m not being rude but you are being a bit silly to be upset after 1 month. It’s common to take a year even with couples with no issues. Don’t deprive yourself of too much - most issues are there already. Keep your life busy and fun, make plans, don’t obsess. And definitely don’t discuss with your family, they’ll only add unnecessary pressure.

@Choc29 hiya! It’s my first month TTC also! I’m 33 as is DP. I’ve just created a new thread called TTC #1 Feb 2024. You’re welcome to join :)

Hey @Choc29 welcome ☺️ I’m just about to go into month 6 ttc number 1. I’m 33 and husband is 40 and totally understand, it’s tough - I didn’t realise how tough this would be!

ive decided this month to have a little break from tracking because it has become a bit overwhelming, and I know roughly when I will ovulate after 5 months of tracking ovulation so just going to try and do it plenty around that time, I’m hoping that might help me feel more relaxed.

i would say to try and stay as relaxed as possible (easier said than done of course 😂) and try and find other stuff to focus on. I have started planning something exciting for just after AF due date so that even if AF arrives, I have that to take my mind off it (and it always includes alcohol haha)

i have several friends who got pregnant within the first couple of months of trying (same age as me) and i also have a few friends that took almost a year, so personally im just trying to stay positive and know that it will happen soon - and enjoying sleeping as much as i want before that part of my life is over 😂

Hi @Choc29 do you mind me asking how long you’ve been off hormonal birth control? The reason I ask is that it can take a long time for it to get out of your system. I stopped taking hormonal birth control a few years ago because I didnt like the way it made me feel so I know when I started TTC I didn’t have any of the synthetic hormones in my system. It took my sister around 12-15 months to fall pregnant after coming off birth control.

DP and I started TTC in around May 2023 and I fell pregnant in November 2023 and I had just turned 32 and DP is 31. I had irregular cycles so probably missed my fertile window on a couple of cycles.

Hope you get a positive soon!

Hi.
I had an implant that was taken out towards the end of 2022 as I started getting really heavy periods with it. I had implants continuously for over 5 years. Took around a year for my cycles to get back to normal after having it out. Now I have 28 day cycle. We were useing non hormone contraception until very recently.

So happy things went well for you. X

That’s great @Choc29 and is one less thing to worry about. I used natural cycles to track my cycle and also used ovulation sticks to make sure I was catching my fertile window. Good luck x
