There's no chance, right?

I'm 41 and we have decided to try for a sibling for our 2 year old. I know that time isn't on my side but we are going to see how things go.

I have a pretty regular cycle, a period roughly once a month, on average around 30 days.

This month I didn't have much chance to dtd with my husband. I think I ovulated on CD 16, going by ewcm but no other evidence. We didn't get intimate then.

The only chance we had was CD 26. I was expecting my period roughly 2 days later but it didn't come. We dtd again last night. Today is CD 32 and I still don't have it.

I will test later to rule it out but I need to prepare myself for the disappointment. I have just convinced myself that I've ovulated twice because of my age 🙃 I know this is crazy!

Can someone please remind me that the chances of conceiving so close to my period in a regular cycle are close to zero!

I think it’s quite unlikely, sorry.
You’re probably just having a 33 or 34 day cycle this time, which isn’t that unusual if it’s usually around 30 days.

Thank you! I needed to hear this!

I also think sadly it’s unlikely. Also if you dtd on cycle day 26 and it’s only cycle day 32, even if you had ovulated on day 26, you would only be 6dpo so would not get a positive test for a while.

@Timingthyme i would say it’s pretty unlikely…after ovulation your body needs about 10 days of luteal phase to make sure you’re uterus is ready for keeping the baby attached to it

Thank you everyone. Just what I thought. Got a bit carried away with my imagination earlier!
